This wine has gained serious weight and complexity since the last bottle I opened. Initially closed and a little jammy, but after an hour decant it settled into a beautifully balanced and silky classic cab. A lot of dark red fruits and a hint of dark chocolate. Tannins present but far from overpowering. Lovely, solid long finish.

Interesting wine, but not great QPR.

Had originally tried this at the Larkmead vineyard. First time I had tried the Tocai Friulano grape

Flavors of apple, peach and a little citrus. Seemed to have a touch of sauvignon blanc flavors as well. Good wine for a nice summer day.

Solid wine, but not worth the premium that Larkmead charges.
Enjoyed, but wouldn't buy again at this price.

Very expressive nose with great earth and spice notes woven in with the dark fruit. I could say the same for the palate, which was medium to medium plus in viscosity with judicious oak adding nice structure to the wine. What I love about these Larkmead's are that they are both accessible and complex, oozing with great Napa raw materials, and finished in a classy way. This is probably the best vintage of this wine that I've had, though I've liked it consistently. Was served out of magnum to a large group with no decant, and very popular with a crowd of casual wine drinkers.

Give this 60 minutes and bam it comes alive. This is all about the mouthfeel as it coats your mouth with fresh currant. Just the right balance between sweetness and acidity and oak intrusion is very mininal. Only slight critique is nose while nice is still a bit closed. Suspect that will come with a bit more time. Glad I have 2 more of these to see the progression. If opening now just decant.

Drinking so well right now - at the entry of the window - polished tannin, great clarity, bright fruit and good length. I like 'em young, so I'm down with drinking my next bottle in 2 years.

Much less fruit than before, but still a good wine. I'm thinking this was a slightly flawed bottle. Sad.

Wow, this is the real thing. Almost 8 years off the vine and still needing at least 5 more years to reach it's peak drinkability. Even after about an hour decant, still very much in it's "dumb" stage where the fruit refuses to surface. It is easy to project it's potential as some serious red raspberry attempts to break loose amid a sea of very young tannins and serious new French oak. The structure, character, and fruit that releases is tremendously focused with an elegance instead of power. Still raw oak and tannins needing more bottle age.

Smooth, shrouded and intense. The nose was dark and rich, showing blueberry, cherry liquor, cola, tobacco and mint. On the palate I found velvety textures with dark red and blue fruit, bakers chocolate and licorice. It finished shorter than expected, but with a fresh fruit quality, along with lingering notes of cherry pit and spice.

An excellent full body cabernet. Good balance in fruit and med. to long finish. I believe that this wine will deserve more points a 3 to 5 years more.

Tobacco, dark chocolate, blueberry cobbler....the depth and complexity of this wine were incredible. Will last longer in the cellar, but for me this was great timing to open.

Took to Live Oak in Hilton Head SC to celebrate parents 50th. Wine made trip from CA. Not overly fruity with a more restrained plum and blackberry leaning. Coffee and licorice notes. Well made and well balanced in a Bordeaux sort of way.

Really nice deep/dark/full fruit up-front, really smooth/full fruit mid-palate, and nice deep/long lasting finish. Slow ox for 4 hours, decanted for another three, and drank over another two. Improved quite a bit with time and I expect this vintage to get better over the next couple years. WA anticipated maturity 2017 to 2029 which makes sense, however, still a great bottle now with a decent decant. 100% cab.

Dark red and black fruits, flowers and currant on the nose. First sip is surprisingly smooth and silky. The tannins have melded into the background and the wine is juicy and pure cabernet. A 2 hour decant takes the wine from outstanding to extraordinary. Notes of black fruit, smokey bbq and mineral become more present. The mid palate and finish pick up considerably and it is now a wine that demands your attention. As you snap to you realize now the finish sails on for what seems like forever and you smile at what's in the glass and know that you were lucky enough this night to catch this wine at near perfection.

The 05 Solari and 07 Salon have been my all time favorites from Larkmead. I thought the 07 Solari had great potential if the tannins would calm down. Well they have and I was really surprised at how good this was at pnp. The 2 hour decant shows this is just starting to show it's full potential and enter it's prime drinking window. I think this could still improve a notch or 2 and reach perfection.

Had this at a steak dinner with 4 different reds for 6 people. Immediately after opening this you could smell the fruit. Everyone in the group liked this, but ultimately, its a good wine, in a bad year. Its not worth the price I paid buying it on the winery's direct sales program, but it is a tasty wine. I plan on drinking my last two bottles this year, before I have any of my 2009s or 2010s.
