Part of a female wine maker themed dinner, this was wow. Is there a better 100% merlot? This stands out as having excellent characteristics and superb balance. Chocolate covered cherries, licorice, some vanilla and a lingering sweetness. Over time more coffee notes emerged including mocha and bitter cocoa. Really outstanding although maybe there is not much upside from further cellaring.

Slow ox'ed for 3 hours before drinking. Full bodied with a prominent tannic backbone. Still tastes very young and robust but is approachable with its intense cassis/blueberry liqueur flavours at the forefront. Medium-long finish. This is a well made wine. Can hold for 5-10 more years but providing pleasure already at this point.

Unmistakeably a Bordeaux varietal, this one packs in the flavor. Very rich, good balance, fine length and a great bottle of wine.

Served as a pirate with a larger "Bordeaux crowd". Consistent to my last tasting note. Great fruit and great aromatics. Cabernet France at its best, made in a modern style but not overly so. Very popular wine at the table.

Middle to light red at the rim - lightly aromatic nose with earthy notes. Medium bodied but dense and still tightly wound. There is a slight bitterness on the finish (which should go with more ageing) also a little heat. Needs more cellar time (2 years+).

Drank this last night with a group of wine mates at La Barca Ristorante & Wine Bar.

Good length and finish. The wine held well throughout the evening. Complemented the food very well, especially the Bistecca alla Fiorentina, aka t-bone steak.

Opened while cooking a traditional Italian dinner and sipped while cooked. I had to be careful as I could have blindly drank this in no time. Nose it old world with a little funk and dark cherries. The taste was dominated by similar dark cherries and plums. A lot more going on here that I didn't write down. A beautiful Cab Franc

Lite peppriga toner i avslutet.

I doften skogsmark, damm, röda bär, lakrits och en aning aceton. Väldigt mycket Toscana i doften. Väldigt balanserat och bra vin men känns just nu väldigt slutet i både doft och smak. Skulle behöva några år till i källaren

On the palate, alcohol, Cherry, soil, acid.

This was a suprise that it was Scrio. I have hardly never missed out a Syrah so significant. The wine do not deliver at its best right now. Hold this for some years to come and you shall be rewarded. Second best tonight in the Macchiole flight.

A fine nose indeed, that was somewhat shy to begin with, but came along in the glass with air.
First a touch of cheese (?) that fortunately blew off, opening up and showing density of red fruit, red berries, Tuscan earth and dust, with some expensive cedar wood.
No real Syrah characteristics at this point thought.
Palate is equally dense and almost shy, still young, but showing great promise.
Fat and fine fruit, Tuscan red berries, earthy, herbs and licorice with a touch of iron and blood.
Very good length and balance, with a good body and structure, good tannins and superb acidity and backbone.
This still needs time to come around, but in 5 years it will show great, of that I am certain.
Le Macchiole’s Scrio is the best Syrah wine made outside of Northern Rhône, and always a treat to drink.

Wow!
What an amazing nose.
This is indeed a world class wine from Bolgheri’s finest, and just keeps getting better and better from vintage to vintage, as the vines are getting older.
Nose shows lovely Cabernet Franc characteristics, with green grass, herbs, Tuscan earth, touch of smoke, red berry perfume, flowers, dust and stony minerals.
Palate with dry and dusty both fruit and minerals, red berries, dense fruit, fine wood and a superb acidity.
Superb length and structure, with drying tannins that has started to resolve.
This is such a treat, and the window is open for enjoying this wine now, but I can easily imagine how good this will be 5 years from now.
Has the stuffing to go all the way, and will be even better once it reaches peak.
Still, lovely and my wine of the Le Macchiole flight tonight.
I love the Paleo Rosso.

A bit shy on the nose to begin with, and not 100% correct, as I detected some traces of cork/TCA.
Red berries and red perfume, beyond the faint cork.
Palate shows high acidity, fat and dense fruit with a touch of alcohol, and wet hay.
This is normally a very fine wine.
Will not give any rating, due to the cork, but instead call this bottle flaw.

A bit restrained, but shows a dusty and gravely nose, red berries, fine and expensive wood, cedar, touch of fine tobacco leafs, pencil shavings, spicy herbs with cough medicine.
Very fine.
Palate is on the very young side of things, with vanilla and cedar wood, dense & fat fruit, very good structure & fat fruit, with medium tannins present.
Some alcohol heat present, but nothing alarmingly in anyway.
A very infantile wine at this point, but also very promising indeed, with all stuffing present and ready to burst out.
Not just there yet.
Just a few years away from being a very silky and ready to really gulp down in big Bordeaux glasses.
Can’t wait!
A beautiful 100% Merlot from Bolgheri’s finest.
