Today the individual flavors seem separate and not aligned, which is odd as this is all Merlot, but seems more than that. It drinks fine now, but it will no doubt drink much better with 2-4 more years of rest and integration. Still, the power and overall balance are rather impressive. Full-bodied(-), med+ finish; oak still needs more time. Thru 2031. recommended |

Or, maybe it's casting a new shadow, as the wood treatment is different than in years past. I've enjoyed this wine many times over the past 15 years, but I've always been left wanting something. It would be easy to say that something would be a lower price, but it's more than that. That said, what this wine is telling me today is that with another 5-7 years in the cellar, I may be able to find that something here in this 2008. HOLD. recommended |
