3/14/2023 - lake.vino Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis is an amazing old school southern rhone. Nose brambly raspberry. Anise. Great balance. Amazing acid. No oak. Long finish. If southern rhone was like this I’d be keeping it in the cellar. |

6/26/2022 - lake.vino Likes this wine: 93 pointsI've become jaded and started to detest most southern Rhone wines. This wine bucks that trend for me. It is both well-made and appealing to this drinker - and just coming into its own at 15 years. Nose has appropriate funk, acid-driven bright raspberry, licorice, some garrigue, floral - lavendar?, blackberry, black pepper. Palate well-balanced, not flabby or hot. No shrinking violet, but nice acid, mineral, tannin. Complex. A wine that reminds me I can still _SOME_ southern Rhones - just need to find the right ones. |

7/28/2013 - Cahill wrote: 90 pointsI enjoyed this. Picked it up after deciding that the extremely expensive grass fed hamburger meat I bought deserved more than our standard Cotes du Rhone. Fragrant with herbs and flowers layered on the Grenache fruit, almost like it had a candy shell, but still fresh and balanced. This is the way I like Grenache in a hot year - more finesse than big and ripe. |

4/24/2013 - subir Likes this wine: 88 pointsBouquet of ripe dark fruits and some leather, almost purple color. The nose is decieving since this wine is definitely medium bodied. Lasted till the next day, but the flavors had become sort of flat. Probably best to drink up now. |

10/3/2010 - bcc725 wrote: 85 pointsAmazingly (for the vintage) the thing this wine lacks is ripeness. It's easily 2-3 years away from peak as its tannins, acidity and fruit (raspberry) were still quite prominent after 24 hours. But its almost too dry...no green notes, but not enough ripeness to keep bringing your mouth back to the glass. From someone that despises most California wine, the fact that I disliked this wine, for this reason, is somewhat ironic. |

It's elegant on the palate, with a light but persistent lift — subtly sweet strawberry resolves into currant and darker spiced cherry. Quite young yet. |
