Drinks more like a CA wine than a WA wine. Purple Ruby with a fair bit of sediment. Some raspberry/blackberry with plum and a bit of leather.on the nose. Currants and plum - Stewed fruits on the palate. Long finish with a bit of alcohol heat on the end. Collective score at the table.

Plowing through samples: Pale lemon color. Bright but complex aromatics, like limes, white peach and lychee topped with sea breeze, white flowers and clean laundry. A zesty and brisk wine but such pleasant richness, creaminess and sweetness as well. Peaches, apricot, papaya, drizzled with lime, I like the potpourri, straw, crushed chalk and ginger notes. Complex but stays zesty and downright fun. Delicious now, but perhaps it could do some cool stuff in the cellar. Tasted sighted.

Drinking beautifully. Rich dark fruit aromas, with black current and cherry on the palate. Complex, silky, soft tannins, balance.

Outstanding WA state Syrah. I enjoy Syrah from this region better than CA. This is a race car, with huge blue fruit and just a touch of bacon fat. Really nice, long finish. No signs of slowing down at 8 yrs old

We will see if this improves tomorrow, but this was nowhere close to the previous bottles. It didn't taste oxidized or corked...rather more like a combination of soy sauce and PGA.

P & P. Drinking surprising well considering how young this fella is. Upfront red and black fruits, mocha, some minerality. Fine to drink now but holding until 2016-2017 and beyond may be the way to go.

Enjoyed this bottle. Dark hue, dark berries, smooth, medium body/medium finish, vanilla, nicely balanced. Drank on a very hot night-- perfect red for the evening. Drinking very nicely at this time.

Three hour decant. Smooth and well balanced. Tannins very fine but still noticeable on the finish. Dark fruits, leather, earthy notes. Drinking fine now but seems like it will hold-up well for many years. Score in the 91-92 range.

From memory. Garnet to black. Ripe blackberry and smoke nose, similar palate with lots of body. The finish was very warm. This wine tasted properly as syrah, and was well balanced, just very ripe and I could still taste the alcohol. One hears how a wine can be overripe and high in alcohol but still be 'balanced', and such is this, however just as an elephant with great balance still cannot be expected to slalom, I only enjoyed this wine in context (it is likely a good representative of its style).

Absolutely terrific. I'm glad I was able to hold off. This was some of the night. Many thanks to Bonny Hawley (formerly) of LSV for the John Duval signed bottle.

I was a little disappointed with this wine. Opened for about 45 minutes before tasting. It had heavily extracted fruit, not much mid-palate and an almost bitter finish. After another 90 minutes open it had integrated better, but the fruit up front was overpowering. For the price of this bottle I would call it very low QPR

A Mostly French Wednesday Afternooner (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Very dark red/purple color. PNP, drank 2 glasses over an hour. I think this was the last bottle that anyone had left, but it displayed well and didn't really show any signs of fading or age. The savoury, meaty aromas and there with blackberry, cassis, and pepper. A nice wine that has always served us well. 91+pts.

Decanted 1 hour +. Paired with a beautiful rib eye off the grill with sweet onion, portabella and many colored sweet peppers.

Nose had pleasant, if reticent, dark blue and black fruit. Medium bodied on the palate with nice balance. Very lovely pairing but little in the way of complexity beyond a touch of wood spice (well integrated).

Nothing controversial. If scoring, 88.
