Light apricot on the palate, but firm minerality drives this wine. Lanolin undertones on the long finish.

Intriguing nose of petrol, honeyed corn, green melon, celery seed. Fantastic acid, just brilliant, really goes far in helping offset the heavily embossed, lemony chalky mineral but somewhat syrupy midpalate. Opens into a seawater, intense saline palate. A unique wine of note! Quite enchanting and unusual. On some level this is an electric freakshow but it's great.

Incredible bracing acidity preserved this 12 year-old wine superbly well. Tastes as fresh as a 1-2 year-old white Alsatian or Northwestern US wine. Absolutely no spoilage. Tastes of tart green apple, lemon, pineapple, citrus. It will be interesting to see how this wine matures even further, if anyone in the CellarTracker community can add to this note. Recommend hold for another decade.

{screwcap, 13.5%} Seashells and brine. A really salty palate, too. Acid is fairly soft, but this is quite big and thick and dense otherwise. Not exactly a pue form of varietal expression, but a flavourful, if not so interesting, example of the grape.

White pepper hints; floral notes; piquant sour tropical fruits with a medium finish; well balanced, amazing Gru-Vee.

{screwcap, 13.5%} A solid straw-yellow colour. Salty nose; restrained. Tastes of seawater and wet rocks, with a vaguely minerally note. Not especially fruity. I wouldn't say there's a lot of development here yet either, although I'm not that familiar with GV, especially in an aged way. It's kind of medium-bodied; courtesy of the alcohol it has quite some presence in a gewurz-like manner, although with far milder flavours. It's bone dry, which helps, but it mostly seems to be a fairly austere wine, washed in grey/green flavours. Has a mostly front-palate profile. I suspect this is best drunk early, before it turns into some kind of tinned green vegetable, because the acid is pretty soft.

A light straw color in the glass with a slate note and a light smokiness on the nose and flavors of citrus and minerals on the palate that linger nicely on the finish.

Thursday Night 5 for $5 (The Grapevine - Pocatello, ID): Pale greenish yellow cover, aromatic musky berry, grass, some wood. Medium-full body, smooth acid, flavors of pear, minerals, wood, some heat. Medium finish. Very interesting wine.
