Great as always. Cherry, baking spices, minerality. Some of the exuberance and crunchiness of the fruit is gone, making this perhaps a bit less fun that previous bottles, but still lovely.

Smells cedary and woody.

Chocolate, maybe showing the vintage? Bill notes that its still got a lot of life on it.

Nose: Earthy, slate mineral aromas with floral and cherry hints. Palate: Very soft with bright cherries, minerals and good acidity. Finish is elegant and super clean. Very well made and typical of a Kermit Lynch offering.

Fun and interesting to drink but did not blow me away. It's big and ripe and shows a surprising 14.5% which I'm not sure really fits gamay.

This was a great bottle. Much better than the last. Bursting with red fruits. Everything I love in cru Beaujolais. High toned and perfumed.

Smoky cherry, spice and strawberry with a nice tar/rubber (almost Pinotage-like) note that I like here. Flavors of cherry jam, white pepper and spices with a subtle candied cherry quality in the finish.

Super tight right now, but everything you could want in a Morgon. Maybe not as good a vintage as '12 or '10, but no matter - still good. Floral, poised, elegant and waiting to unfurl. Don't stick these at the back of the cellar, but maybe wait a bit before opening the next one...

Foamy, beery, fizzy and refermenting. Ugh. Never had this happen with this wine over many, many vintages (and indeed, other bottles from the same source). Anyway, too bad, since this is usually gluggably delicious.

Difficult vintage and it shows. This is perfectly pleasant but it lacks the breadth of the previous two vintages. Red berry (cranberry, strawberry) aromas are straightforward. A perfectly enjoyable drink--I'm just not finding myself asking the kinds of questions that other recent vintages prompted: "what's that spicy note I can't quite identify?" or "where did that flavor come from; it wasn't there 30 minutes ago?" Actually this kind of reminds me of the better vintages of the Raisins Gaulois.

This didn't show well for the first couple of hours. It was very disjointed. However, like the 2012 bottles I've recently drunk, the elements started to integrate nicely and this ended up being a great bottle. Even better the second day. Once it had hit its stride, there were jubey red berries, cherry pit, orange zest, herbs and some earthy notes. As others have noted, this may not be the most complex or concentrated wine, but it's very tasty. Slow ox for a couple of hours before drinking!

Beautiful, elegant wine. Tart raspberry and cranberry fruit, complicated by minerals, flowers and a light vein of earth. Airy, lacy and bright on the palate. Not for everyone (my wife did not like), as it is a very light-bodied and high toned wine. UPDATE: Really improved on day two, with a deeper bing cherry note while sting maintaining its zingy character.

It has been 7 months since I have tasted this, and it has aged exponentially. Very much terroir dominated now, with fading ripe cranberry and spice notes. Some reduction showing, which becomes less obvious with air. This wine is so unique its difficult to quantify with a number, but the finish and concentration falls a little flat compared to the best so I will leave it at an "excellent" rating.

almost undrinkable the first hour, so far out of balance. fine later. the next evening, its usual brilliant sappy self. I think this is at a stage where it really needs a serious decanting. don't be afraid of giving it 3 or 4 hrs of air, and serve it with a slight chill.

The 2013 Lapierre Morgon has developed quite a lot over the last six months, losing some of its aromatic purity and textural precision—perhaps my passive cellar just runs too warm? An attractive bouquet of wild strawberry and griotte cherry is now complemented by medicinal aromas and herb tones. On the palate, the wine is bright and acid-driven, and very gently extracted; it seems just a bit smudged and muddled, however, compared to its showings at the end of last year. Admirable enough in its style, but not really for me.

This bottle was good but not near the quality of the previous bottles. Tasting like it is on the downslide now without much fruit. Hopefully just an off bottle but in a tasting of 2005s, most were not very good.

day 2. Similar to day 1, but maybe slightly more open.
As expected, beautiful aromas including fresh, focused floral and red fruit notes, as well as underlying mineral and earth character. Fruit is largely strawberry, with a combination of ripe and tart, but mainly just-ripe. There is impressive depth here. There's the slightest hint of barnyard (brett), which I actually find adds to the complexity, and I tend to be quite intolerant to that. Overall, I think this is a very good wine, and a good, but not great, vintage for Lapierre. MUCH better than the 2012, but not quite on the level of 2011 or 2009.
