Dark cherry pie, blackberry cobbler and tar show on the palate with well balanced acidity and tannin, in a nice place currently. Strong alcohol shows in the finish but it isn't overwhelming. This is a 'high octane' wine though, heavy mouthfeel, strong intensity and a lot of alcohol. That said, it's all really well integrated, and despite the booze on the finish, I'm really digging this. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

5/4/2013 - Dulcie and Aylwin wrote: NRI lack a definitive note of the first bottle drunk some years back, but I recall a sense of disappointment at the time; one expects so much of the fable CdP I suppose. Well, to my pleasant surprise, the second, and sadly last, bottle exceeded expectation. What had previously been hidden behind a tannic wall had blossomed into full flower: deep ruby red, brooding, gamey aromas of dark fruit and smoke, tart dark cherries on the palate, still quite tannic indicating many years to go. Pity. |

4/26/2013 - Birdmountain wine Likes this wine: 93 pointsThis wine holds a strong character with green spices, smoke, mint, cypress tree, black pebber and a succulent mouthwatering finish that places it among my absolute favorite CdP´s. It is perfect now even directly after uncorking it. |

4/20/2013 - Skrutt (Formerly RotHead) Likes this wine: 90 pointsSo dense with sweet cherries in such abundance - that is something I personally like a lot. Could the tannins melt down a bit in a year or so? They didn't feel integrated. (90+) |

4/16/2013 - liteagilis Does not like this wine: NRDefinitely a certain style but in fairness it is very concentrated. For me though it is very concentrated with squeaky clean fruit that is quite sweet, maybe even stewed and lacks a good bit of acidity. Maybe ate will teach this new tricks. Not enjoyable for me now. Much preferred bois de boursan in 09 |

After a couple hours the wine softened and bitterness subsided. But no real fruit going on. Mostly a smooth texture experience. Disappointing but could have been a damaged bottle. |

3/23/2013 - danielbleier Likes this wine: 92 pointsI got fig, ganache, cherry and plenty of earth. Tannins were mild, medium body, and good length. Drinking well but perhaps would have been served with a longer decant as it improved with each glass. |

3/21/2013 - robw Likes this wine: 93 pointsThis is quite simply a gorgeous wine that unlike the 09 requires more time. The quality level of the '10 vintage in C9P speaks for itself. One can only get excited and impatient waiting for these to enter their drinking window. Structurally, the wine is sound with perfect combinations of fruit, tannin and alcohol which leaves no noticeable trace of heat whatsoever. This is a back up the truck kind of wine if one has the patience to wait some two to five years for the components to meld together. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

3/16/2013 - Billy Swan Likes this wine: NRSo alright, I'm very curious to find out what's going on with the 2007s from Chateauneuf-du-Pape. This one is very malolactic when it dances down in the decanter. It has a fragrance of blackberry-yogurt spiced up with herbal licorice. It settles down after about 45 minutes and served at about 16 degrees Celsius to lamb filet, roasted potatoes, Jerusalem artichoke, carrots and root celery and bearnaise, it's seriously good. This one comes from the dark side, it's very herbal, the fruit is more blackberry cassis than raspberry/red currant. There is both licorice and a touch of scorched earth, but alcohol is very well integrated. Warmth, sure but no heat. Acidity is fine, there's a meaty, leathery touch and very fine tannins that keeps the taste come in waves. They're beginning to melt down, but are still noticable. It works just as well with some Comté for after. However, I think this one will get even better in just a year or two. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

3/15/2013 - Burgundynick wrote: 82 pointsA lovely nose of liquorice, deep red fruit and a touch of spice. The palate is a little dry and not that smooth, like before I don't think that's ready still, probably needs decanting for a few hours. It has some spice, liquorice and fruit, but still can't understand how people rate it so high. 82 points for me. |
