A beauty. At its topp right now. Still quite zesty but beginning to show som cellaring aromas. Still very fruity. Loong full taste.

The wine looks light gold colored. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like lemon, apple, orange blossom, bready and baker's yeast. It tastes like lemon, orange, baker's yeast and bready. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has high acidity.

Dinner with Mrs L's lawyer girlfriends + other halves (At home, Hong Kong): Drunk side by side with the 1996, this certainly came across as dryer, tighter and more bubbly. It has a few more years to go yet, before you get a hint of the mature Chardonnay side that the 1996 has started to show. But these are minor complaints -- it is still a very lovely DP to enjoy now

Dinner with Mrs L's lawyer girlfriends + other halves (At home, Hong Kong): Wow this bubbly beauty is starting to show its stuff. Two years ago I remember it being a little young and tight, but it is now mature and noticeably rounder at the edges, with even hints of pineapple and ripe pear coming through. Still very zesty though, this would be terrific to drink for another decade at least

4th of July BBQ with Friends and good wine; 7/4/2015-7/5/2015 (Zurich, Switzerland): Wonderful DomP. Light yellow in color. Nose shows smoked flavors, toasted bread, lime and apples. Very elegant almost light but at the same time long and multifaceted. An enormous wine and so addicting. Much better than the 2003. Amazing now and in the next 10-15 years.

Very well made wine just fails to meet expectations, notes, of nut, biscuits, citrus and tart Apple, palate has nice freshness to it at the start but becomes quite tight and austere on the mid palate through the finish. Yet to meet an 03 champagne (including Kruger) that was worth declaring a vintage for

Powerful nose of rich brioche and green apple. Heavy body. Dense and unresolved, and at the same time intense and expressive with bright apple and lemon, mineral notes, and strong brioche. This strikes me as a truly great wine, but I don't love it. It's too heavy and inelegant. My guess (not having any experience with Champagne aging) is that I would enjoy this much more (and perhaps treasure it) in ten years.

Ble skuffet over denne for to år siden, gav da lite sammenliknet med moet nv.
The wine looks light gold colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle.

Nice squeezed lemon and diluted gold color. On the nose this was Puligny Montrachet - like with salted butter and lemon cream. Over time I like how the taste fluctuated from salted oranges to sweeter tones and was pleasurable to drink with a full meal because of the intensity and power, characteristic of the 1996 vintage.

On the lighter - aperitif style. Bubbles quite big. Medium intensity nose of mild quince and stonefruits, surprisingly there was a whiff of meat aromas, resulting from oak influence, which added to the complexity. Generic, a bit broad on the palate, could have had some more minerality. Not as bad as I thought it would be. I didn't find it especially interesting, but I don't think that all the critique is justifyable here.

My third bottle and everyone consistent with the other and one of the best Champagnes I have every had bar none. Previous notes apply. Sorry, once again drank for my 65th at Fortaleza do Guincho in Portugal so more interested in the food, my beautiful wife and great Champange and 89 Baron so I didn't take copius notes. In fact not one. But between the two wines it was a great birthday and even greater wine and food experience.

Very tasty but predominantly yeast and brioche flavors and aromas overtake the fruit. Fairly light on its feet and the acid is prominent. It just hasn't all come together yet.

So I was a little split here. Had been saving the bottle for >1 year and had something to celebrate. On the one hand, it's unmistakably DP, that flinty nose, with a hint of toastiness on the finish. On the other hand, I've had more palate complexity at a far lesser price. Two dimensional at best whereas other vintages brough more to the playing field. Having said that, it's otherwise hard to fault. I agree with everyone's comments about green apple and caramel, but not a whole lot else. Finishes smooth and long. I'll happily replace the bottle with another from an alternative vintage.

I enjoyed the champagne on a happy occasion, but preferred the 1990 and the 2000 I have had recently. It opened a bit flat, which was unexpected and made me wonder if it was not stored properly, though I purchased from a reputable store a couple of years ago.

A little evolved in appearance, almost dark yellow. Lots of yeast, brioche, citrus and pear, with quite a bit of acid and minerality. Palate was a little short, and slightly disjointed. Chinese pear, fresh lime and green apple with lots of acid again. In comparison to the Doms of 02 and 03, this falls a little short on complexity and balance.

Tasted this wine in between two cuvees of Selosse and it is so different. The Selosse so special, complex and exclusive, probably only for Champagne addicts and then this wine; so luxurious and open. For everyone to love. Lush, tasty and full bodied with a smoky bouquet, ripe yellow fruits, mild minerality, lovely and soft acidity and also smoke and beautiful complexity, but in a completely different way. This 2002 is still a baby, but already such a great pleasure and open. What a feast!
