On opening, this is a huge, powerful wine. 2 hours in the decanter and a bit more time in the glass and it softens, integrates and smoothes. In really beautiful shape now. Medium weight, dark plums, sour dark berry fruits, menthol, peppery, bay leaf, nice Medium acid, good balanced wine, structured but not obtrusive tannins. Nice wine. Developing some further bay leaf, cigar and leather notes on the finish. Will be interesting in 5 years as tertiary flavours continue to develop. Not sure I'd give it the full 15 years the label prescribes. |
