2/24/2024 - Cailles wrote: flawedBordeaux 2004 - 20 Years On - 33 Reds: All wines tasted blind, not decanted. Observations: 1) 2004 is a mediocre vintage overall, with many pleasant wines, but without the depth of better years. 2) At the top, the vintage produced some classic, old-school wines with lots of freshness and fresh fruit. 3) At the lower end, many wines lacked fruit and ripe tannins, resulting in some astringent and slightly drying wines. 4) An alarming number of Right Bank wines (5 out of 16, no Left Bank wine) were oxidized, including some heavyweights like Petrus, Evangile or Figeac. An unacceptably high proportion of faulty wines. 5) I’m not sure that the 2004 are currently in a good phase, many of my scores were lower than in previous tastings. The question is if it’s just a weaker phase or the beginning of the end. 6) At the top and the only wine >95pts was a layered Le Pin (rated 96pts), with a charming Vieux Chateau Certan, a surprising Issan and Clos l'Eglise, as well as an elegant Lafite sharing second place (all rated 94pts). |

3/10/2024 - Sean Tay Likes this wine: 96 pointsGot left over from the night before and store it in a 375ml glass bottle and pump argon gas over it. The notes I got was even more pronounced than yesterday with nose of flora, violet, blackfruits, leather, mushroom, toast. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Tannin is velvety and smooth. Long finish. |

2022 PétrusPomerol Red Bordeaux Blend more |
3/2/2024 - watcheslover Likes this wine: 100 pointsIn recent weeks, I have had the chance to re-taste a good number of Bordeaux 2022 samples to see their evolution almost a year after the primeur week. I put you below and in alphabetical order, those that I imagine for the moment, worthy of the highest grade! It must be understood that I have not tasted all the wines, far from it, and that some others are going through more difficult evolutionary phases for the moment and therefore impossible to rate while remaining honest. Only the notes after bottling will be truly conclusive. Thank you for understanding this. |

2/29/2024 - glou.sf Likes this wine: 94 pointsFrom magnum. Deep, dark, and incredibly concentrated nose with dark fruit, tobacco, spices, and tar. The palate is similar with dark berries, cherries, a hint of chocolate, more spices, and underwood. Finish is quite long. A massive wine that feels very extracted and concentrated, although I didn't feel it was out of balance, just a profile that may not be everyone's cup of tea. I would love to see how this evolves, but I doubt I will get the chance... 94+ |

2/27/2024 - Philip67 Likes this wine: 98 pointsMmmm this does not disappoint. Absolutely wonderful depth, intensity and length. Still mainly primary, though with lovely cedar wood and new saddle leather notes. Very perfumed, violets, dry rose petals. Menthol, blackcurrant and cassis. Medium plus body, very fine tannin. Great balance of fruit and structure. Hugely long and persistent, good complexity. Drinking now but will continue to develop for complexity and tertiary notes. Enjoy. |

The palate is exotic, supple, and sensuous, with layers of ripe, spicy plums, cherries, smoke, and chocolate. The wine is long, opulent, rich, and most importantly, unique in character. It’s also still young and vibrant. Drink from 2024-2050. |

Medium-bodied, rustic, chalky cherries, cocoa, and dust is what you find in the finish. Considering the vintage, this is much better than expected. Drink from 2024-2030. |

1/23/2024 - Beeck10 wrote: 96 pointsIn the nose, there was an immediate burst of young, fresh button mushrooms – it came through quite strongly, not leaving much room initially for other scents to emerge. Later (around 20 minutes in), other notes did come through, such as tobacco and leather. On the palate, it still had a more than reasonable body and acidity; the note was sweet, reminiscent of cherries. The wine may have had its prime, but it is still very pleasant to drink! |

1/21/2024 - llink wrote: 92 pointsTasted blind in a a flight of Right Bank wines. The wines were double decanted 3 hours prior to tasting. My second place wine, the group also ranked it second, behind the 82 on every ballot. Very stern nose, showing red fruit, truffle, citrus, pine needles, anise and cloves. Lively palate, the acidity is firm and the fruit has receded a bit. Short finish, again with a lot of acid and not much palate presence. The palate while interesting was a disappointment when compared to the lovely 82 |

Very rich nose, showing coffee grinds, mature cherry, caramel/toffee, earth and spice. Just an amazing nose. Beautifully lush and giving palate, showing rich and unctuous red fruits, in a medium weight, lithe texture with huge length. Still quite young and lively, this is a Burgundy lovers Bordeaux. |
