Tuesday Night Double Blind $80+ (Bin 75): Crimson core with pale rim; funk, sulfur, meaty cherry, leaner, roses, medicinal, sour cherry, very red fruit, slight orange oil, woodsy finish, serving temp was too warm for me, grainy tannin, nice fruit and depth; not exactly sure on this but was not on Cotes de Nuits; not given enough air to be opened this young; 91+.

Medium body, some pleasant red cherry fruit with a nice dose of crisp tartness giving it a strawberry and red raspberry note, touch of wood spice. Not sure this has the bones to go a lot of years, I'm drinking my couple of bottles earlier, with some food to take advantage of the crispness.

Fabulous fruit, structure and everything that is hoped for in a restrained burgundy. The tannins softened on decanting. More importantly, the fruit and length were significantly improved once out of the bottle.

Yum. I want more for my cellar, as it will likely improve even further with bottle ageing.

Second Sunday Group: 2003 vs 2005 Bordeaux 2nd Labels (R&D's): Courtesy of Neil. Popped and poured, the color on this was a faded ruby. Aromas of cherries, clay, earth, potpourri and florals. I could have smelled this all night, and it held in the glass quite well too. It did not lose a thing in the nearly forty minutes I spent nursing it. The palate is soft and balanced and features flavors of cherry, mineral and earth with the fruit lingering on the finish.

Lovely wine that added fruit, spice and weight over time. Quite quaffable but, deposited the forwardness of the vintage, suggests there is more to come.

Good wine: nuanced balance of stoney tang and acid, packaged in a thin layer of glycerol roundness. My favorite white Burg region, after 1er Chablis.

13% d'alcool

More developed than I had hoped. Acidity and autumn are two keywords here. Black tea and sweet shadows of fruit, but unfortunately there is a lack of both complexity and fruit. Rounds out somewhat with air and has some appealing earthy and licorice notes as well, but overall not very exciting. Better in riedel vinum burg than in zalto burg for those who care. Would've been on 60s nebbiolo blind.

Aloxe-Corton 2010, Dubreuil-Fontaine.
Je me considère chanceux : Il me reste une bouteille de son Vercots 2010.

Showed a bit high acid and shrill early on, but with a bit of air it becomes quite elegant and delicious, with decent depth of medium cherry, notes of woody raspberry, bit of spice, some fine earthy tannins and well balanced acidity. Give it an hour of air, and drink over the next few years.

Light golden yellow. Medium intensive nose of fresh hazelnut and citrus. In the mouth great vibrancy with the high acidity well balanced, medium body, but intense lemon and fresh nut flavours with some underlying mineral notes; nearly grippy texture. Very good length. Overall not overly complex, but the balance and mouthfeel are a delight.

Aromas of cherries and raspberries with a slight earthy and savoury undertone. Palate was slightly thinner than the nose suggested. The acidity and tannins were still very much present but very subtle. This provided pleasant but middling drinking but perhaps time is needed to let the wine integrate.
