Popped and poured at 18 degrees. When I was just about to think my preference had fully tilted to the French this baby comes along. The nose a bit shy but beautiful vanilla, very subtle. On the palate wow, unleashing wonderful velvet vanilla long long amazingly balanced oak. Yes, it is a tad on the sweet side if you are a Bdx lover, but this one makes you look through this. It's really wonderful. So different, as in much better, as this estates's standard crianza which disappointed me slightly a couple of months back. Sold! Try this if you can, it's that good. The last time I had such a good Spanish wine was three years ago (a Vall Llach 2001).

One of many wines ranging from passable, to unremarkable, to forgettable, or just not to my taste that I have sampled recently. The score will say it all!!

Enofusión 2015; 2/2/2015-2/4/2015 (IFEMA - Madrid): Even being a very young wine you can guess that extra the vintage is giving for free.
On the palate, needing time, has backbone more than enough to run for many years. The only doubt is that low acidity.

Muy joven pero parece adivinarse ese extra que podría proporcionar la añada
En boca, necesitando pulirse, parece tener estructura y acidez (?) para seguir adelante

Ok and no obvious flaws, but just kind of boring. Nothing interesting going on at all. Everything toned down too much. This was my second bottle. Last one was popped and poured, this one decanted one hour. Will not buy again.

Rubied; slightly stewed, simplistic, one dimensional. Finishes well. No need to rush but unlikely to progress.

Opened and poured from bottle over 2 hours. Never really opened up and integrated for me. Muted front palate and tannic finish. Had higher expectations. Wouldn't drink this for years or long decant.

Color cereza, ribete cardenalíceo oscuro tirando a granatoso, capa alta y lágrima fina bien tintada.

Still big and full-bodied, but well integrated. A great Ribera del Duero that's modern, but still has terroir that makes it clearly Spanish.

It is always so pleasent to open a bottle to find out that you did that at the right moment. This was the case with my only 2004 Pago de Los Capellenes Ribera del Duero Reserva. Color is dark garnet with some ruby hues. Initially shy, needs some air to unwind its aromatic bouquet of mostly dark cherries, liquorice, mint, blueberry, truffles, sweet spices and floral scents. On the palate it is medium-bodied with a silky texture, perfectly balanced and quite complex. Aftertaste is long. Excellent wine inded. Will drink nicely over the next 5 years or so, but no reason to wait further if you wish to enjoy it now.

Xmas Meal with Ann(e)s & David (Howies Waterloo Place): Deep dark ruby. Nose some spices and dark berries. Then, oooff! Big wine. Tons of dark fruits, black cherries, cocoa, dried meats. Decent acidity, good length. Fairly soft tannins. Rich & full, stood up very well to a venison casserole, Big, verging on blowsy but lovely.

Came at the end of a very long wine dinner and thus not a good TN.
From memory, ripe and rich, quite oaky and modern in style. Will pay more attention next time...

Full bodied and round with a lot of dark fruits and good oak. A lot of sweetness but in good balance with the acidity. Sweet spices. Pleasant and round tannin. Early maturity now and certainly pleasant until 2018+. 88 for today.

Cork was literally soggy at the top. Yet it was somehow drinkable. The fruit was minimal, but there was some nice tannic structure and earthiness that made it strangely compelling despite the obvious flaws. Ended up not finishing the bottle, but kept a glass at the table and nursed it.

Just a couple of bottles left. Cork was suspect and difficult to extract so I was apprehensive. Decanted but at the time thought perhaps it had turned. After an hour still tasted a little thin. Then it opened up and the lovely wine it is reappeared while grilling veggies and sausage. A hint of Plum and cherries with a little pepper all subtle on the finish. A simple meal made special.

Bought a case and to be honest have felt this vintage was a little journeyman for young Ribera del Duero. I have been buying this for years as it is great QPR and never fails. The 2012 was pleasant enough but just not that exciting and a little dilute if anything, so I'd left it awhile. Bottle opened recently has taken on a more farmyard and earthy nose and more developed on the palate. Finish is longer too. Back to what I like about this wine: forward but with more than a normal 'joven'. Very nice indeed, a decent entry level and a pleasure to drink.

Superb. Berry fruits, spice with a hint of vanilla. This is ripe upfront fruit but with a balance and a silkiness on the finish. Has a nice freshness too and a dash of decent acidity that makes this an excellent food match. Maybe lacks some rustic edge that is common but the silky finish makes up for it. Nothing green or over-extracted here. After my note for the 2009 vintage this was a pleasure to drink so I'm going to be generous and go for the higher score here. Still think the bottle is over weight mind.

The wine is clear and bright with a medium ruby colour and presence of legs. The nose is clean and developing, showing medium(+) intensity aromas of raspberries, strawberries, red plums, liquorice, vanilla and chocolate. The wine is dry in the mouth with a medium acidity. It has medium(+) fine-grained tannins and a medium(+) alcohol. It has a medium(+) body and medium(+) intensity flavours of raspberries, strawberries, red plums, liquorice, vanilla and chocolate. The finish is medium(+).

It is a very good quality wine. It has a very nice fruit concentration and a quite decent finish. It shows a very nice overall balance between fruit concentration and alcohol, supported by tannins, and some degree of complexity provided by oak ageing. However it is not complex enough to be considered outstanding. The wine is too young, it needs 1-2 years more in the bottle to integrate better the fruity and oaky aromas, and it has enough tannic structure and fruit concentration to develop a bit more of complexity in the next 3-5 years.
