2003 Parker Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon ReserveAlexander Valley more |
10/22/2015 - vegasoenophile Does not like this wine: 50 pointsI feel this was somehow flawed. I enjoyed numerous bottles of the non-reserve a few years back. This one is super pungent on the aromatics, but leans toward heavy camphor/eucalyptus and gets kind of nail polishy and cough syrupy. The palate is out of whack. Will have to try another bottle, but none of these issues point to immediate brett or TCA issues. |

All said, this was a decent drinker - medium depth of color and mid weight, struck me as pleasant enough but nothing very complex or special. In retrospect, I should have eased into the evening with this bottle instead of dooming it to faint praise after a great bottle of Jones Family Cabernet... |

Initial palate shows a lot of sweet fruit, however a nice spine of minerality pushes in to help cut through the "fruit-bomb"y-ness. The finish is long-ish, and has some decent development. Definitely a full-bodied wine, but there's a good balance of tannins and minerality to give this bottle some depth and interest. Scored it the same as earlier bottle. (89). |

Superbly balanced and super fragrant bouquet of ripe fruit on the nose. It beckons. The wine is still powerful, but graceful and elegant with mouthfuls of ripe red fruits, hints of black fruits and all in great balance. This is when you catch a wine at it's zenith, so drink now!! |

5/30/2010 - oldgrowth45 wrote: 89 pointsDark maroon color. Thick legs. The nose was a potent mix of fresh berry fruits (primarily boysenberry), and volatile alchohol. Fortunately the v.a. didn't carry through to the palate, which was a very nice mix of strong fruit tempered with a pronounced (but plesant) tannic backbone. It finished cleanly with good minerality and more fresh fruit. Everything was strong, but not bombastic. Nice bottle. |

Lacking complexity, not much on the mid palate, stewed flavors on the finish. Not much in the way of complexity or finish. Had one glass, then dumped the rest. Must be a bad bottle. Bummer. |
