7/5/2020 - Dezel wrote: 90 pointsPech Merle Wine (pronounced Pesh-Mael) 2018 Ivy Rosé de Carignan: Fresh, bright throughout, & fruity with a savory edge, this refreshing rosé possesses aromas and flavors of ripe red berries wrapped in a citrusy acidity, finishing with subtle yet unmistakable herbal notes. Very enjoyable, and I agree with the owners: the name may be hard to say, but the wine is easy to drink. Check them out at pechmerlewinery.com. |

3/21/2020 - The Drunken Cyclist Likes this wine: 91 pointsSome clown named 'Now_in_Mi' here on CT wrote 11 tasting "notes" here on CT for this wine. Ten times he gave it an 85 and the 11th time? An 88. Well, s/he got one thing right, it has improved over time. My original notes have held true, but this bottle has more tropical notes (mango, guava) than tree fruit. I did not mention it before, but this is much closer to Sancerre than it is to New Zealand. Thank goodness. thedrunkencyclist.com |

1/5/2019 - The Drunken Cyclist Likes this wine: 90 pointsA couple of years ago, I was out in Dry Creek Valley and on a whim, I stopped into the Peach Merle in Geyserville. As I am want to do, I struck up a conversation with the very attractive tasting room manager (don't tell my wife). As I tasted through the current releases, I kept thinking of this wine, the first that I had tasted, and I purchased a couple of bottles. A couple of years have passed, but this wine is still alive and kicking wildly. Bosc pear and white flowers dominate the nose, with a rich palate of pear and apple, with some minerality on the mid-palate and a lengthy finish. A very un-Sauvignon Blanc SB. Yum. thedrunkencyclist.com |
