Similar notes to last bottle and arguably this one was more open and inviting. Great value.

I was afraid this wine was going down the same path as Paleo rosso, in that the fruit was smothered by an overdose of new wood. This is luckily not the case. The trick is to give this a few hours of air, and the wine finds its balance. Black fruits, minerality, intensely flavored. This reminded me in a way of a very firm carignan and was an excellent pairing with steak. A well deserved 91 score

Deep red colour. Bouquet of dark black fruit and wood, slightly floral. Flavours of pepper, licorice, plum, blackberry. Full in the mouth with a fairly long finish. Still a bit hot so could sit in the cellar still but drinking well. Drinking this again after being open one day and it has opened nicely.

Nose with leather, herbs, cherries and dusty red earth.
Palate with cherries and dust.
Fruit somewhat drying, singing on the final verse?
Very nice everyday Italian.

Cellar cleaning of older "house wines" stored away in a corner and almost forgotten.
Finished of my old Il Sasso bottles from a forgotten vertical case.
Final bottle and newest vintage.
This has kept up much better than the not so good 2009 version.
Fully mature nose, herbs, leather, spices.
Oak has been devoured.
Cherries, licorice with fine grainy tannins.
This is a good everyday Tuscan blend from a good producer.
No point in cellaring this, just drink it when you buy it.

This was by far the least good bottle of the vintages I have kept. (least good vintage in Tuscany between the years of 2006 - 2010, in my experience)
Clearly over it's prime window.
Almost faulty, but I believe not - just a bad wine/bad vintage.
Lost it's fruit along with all signs of joy and turned into an old bagger with sour fruit, ugly acidity and solvent.
This wine should have been consumed before - not later, as it did not stand the test of time.
Extensive air did not help in anyway - it just got worse, ended up in the sink.
Over and out.

Another bottle of this rather interesting Tuscan Sangiovese blend that has past zenith by now.
This has dried up and feel like its singing on its final chorus.
Not faulty, just tiered and less interesting than back in it's prime.

My final and least good bottle of this wine from this vintage.
Clearly a wine for early/mid age consumption - not for the long haul.
Still a good wine, but has started to fall apart.
A very fruit filled vintage but without the rest to hold up for a longer cellar time it should have been consumed earlier.
Not faulty - nor bad, just over.

No real notes tonight, but a very nice and well made wine, with a great qpr.
Fine everyday drinker.
Very much like my note from 5 years ago, but more developed and with more secondary notes present.
Cherries, earth, leather and herbs.
Well worth the money.

Better than the 2005 of the same wine that I had a week ago.
Nose with leather, red earth, iron, green herbs and red cherries.
Some spicy wood smoke and game showing too as it opens up.
Palate with sweet sun ripe red cherries, blood/iron, leaf's, tobacco.
Good length, a bit on the simple side, but enjoyable.

6 years since last bottle of this wine.
Now fully mature, almost over, but still enjoyable.
Earthy with leather and tobacco, low fruit intensity.
Lost more than it has gained from cellar time.
Less fruit remains, a bit flat and too much oak left overs compared to the rest of remains.

Well made/vinified.
Black currant, herbs, grass, smoked wood, incense, and red earth.
Red fruit, sweet cherries, wood spices, quite polished and deep.
Soft tannins - nice stuff - ready to drink and enjoy.

Tasted at Tre Bicchieri, NYC. Blend of Sangio, Canaiolo, and Merlot. Aged in new and second use oak. Pretty forward and oak flavor and aroma dominated. This needs time to integrate the oak to be very appealing to me

Tasted at Tre Bicchieri, NYC. 100% Cabernet Franc, aged for 1 year in 30% new oak barrels. Fruity and plush with black cherry and boysenberry. Forward and modern in style but attractive and potentially ageworthy.

This is delicious. Clear ruby red. Ripe red raspberries and black fruits, hints of oranges, tobacco, chocolate and with a hint of warming spices.

My first bottle of this wine (L17177), it is a big, extracted, New World style Super Tuscan. Popped and poured and consumed over three nights, it hardly changed over the three evenings. I don’t like this style much, but this is very good for the style. Thankfully it does not reek of oak like most wines made in this style, and has a good acidic spine. Otherwise, it is a rustic, dark-fruit bomb with power and no subtlety. I cannot understand Antonio’s 95 rating of this wine. Good QPR for the style. I would not buy again, but the same wine in Napa would cost 3x as much. I have five left in the cellar ! Drink to 2035, but I doubt it will improve.
