Good. Super chalky which I associate with Blanc de Blanc but this has a richness and strawberry fruit from 70% Pinot noir. Suspect this xvIII will improve as it felt a bit young.

Fruit Day - golden in glass with small persistent bubbles. Brioche, apple, lemon and minerals on the nose and palate. Rich, round, ripe and just plain delicious. Drink now and over the next 3 or so years.

Lovely nose of strawberry ice cream, sea salt but not much else. On the palate this wasn’t my favorite. For me needed another gram or two dosage. Fun to try but prefer others.

70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. The base wine is the 2010 vintage. Disgorged 12/2013. 6g/L dosage. 2nd time I have had this wine but different disgorgement dates. Pinkish orange color. Fuller bodied with a lively bead. Strawberry notes with some spice and a slight bitterness on the finish. 89 points.

In a very good state now, slightly maturing fruits, lemons, green apple, touch of tropical, toast, yesat, salt and sea. Good acid, perfecymt balance. A true joy.

Hawker night at Caroline's: Brought for a friend. Was in two minds about opening this given that previous notes said that this was not showing at the moment, but thought this was approachable albeit with the tautness of 2013s. Not the most refined champagne, but liked the zesty, energetic nature of this.

Impromptu Dinner w/Friends (Pa Lian Burmese, Wheaton): Our penultimate bottle (seems like I have been typing that quite often as of late) of a blend of 30% pinot noir and 70% chardonnay based on the 2010 vintage, disgorged in December 2013 at 6g/L. Pink/copper color with a fleeting mousse and notes of red apple, honeycomb and red berries. Fine bead with abundant red berry fruit dominating the palate. Subtle doughy and nutty elements in the finish. I may be underrating this a bit. This disgorgement is in a good place right now and though it will hold, I don’t know that it improves much from here so consume near term, now to 2026.

Périgord Truffle Dinner (George Trois, Winnetka): Enjoyed as we settled in and squared away the other bottles with the somm and his team. Pale golden yellow color with notes of orchard fruit and cashew, with a hint of lemon curd as well. Fairly rich though retains a bit of cut and freshness due to its acidity. A lovely little Champagne to kick off the evening.

[February 2023 disgorge]

pale salmon colour. subtle nose of strawberries, rose petals and baguette. full and complex in the mouth, with tart berry and bruised apple flavours laced with yeasty and citric accents and a flash of a bitter note. very long finish with a saline streak.

complex and gastronomic rosé champagne that should age beautifully for a decade or so.

12.5% AbV; zero dosage; 64% Chardonnay/ 36% Pinot Noir (vinified white) from Bouzy Grand Cru vineyards; colour comes from 5% Les Terres Roses Pinot Noir.

Always an admirable balance between oxydation, acidity and dryness. 1g/l of sugar whereas the impression is of sweetness. Base year 2018, disgorged 11/2021. Ready to be consumed, deep golden color.

100% Grand Cru from Bouzy. 64% Chardonnay & 36% Pinot Noir. No dosage.

Definitely the most complex in the tasting so far. Fruits are nicely subtle. Strawberries, cherries, some blackberries, white citrus mix, pink grapefruit & white citrus with a touch of peach. Very soft, chalky powder, same for the limestone & volcanics, touch of white spice, undertones of saline & sea fossils, yeasty, brioche, pink roses and spring flowers, a very nicely woven structure w/ a softly & smartly polished finish.

Really nice sparkler. Beautiful light orangish pink, almost pastel like color. Fine, small bubbles added to the acidity.

I got all strawberry/red fruits on the palate, as well as a very slight bit of the ginger/spice notes that others mention (just on the finish). Delicious.

Pale gold into the glass. Nose is brioche, citrus, mineral, toast and crushed sea shells. On the palate the brioche, toast, citrus and mineral combine into a wonderful mosaic of flavours. The finish is long with a beautiful chalkiness backstopping the brioche, mineral and citrus. Terrific!
