2013 Purple Hands Pinot Noir La Nouveau Monde

Willamette Valley more

Stopped by this winery on a recommendation from a Local wine club director. Was amazed to humbly be served from the wine maker and his wife. The pinots we tasted were young but amazingly approachable at such a young age. This is the perfect winery for wine lovers who are tired of the hustle and bustle tasting rooms and who want to taste the heart and soul of what real Willamette Pinot is.

some flowers, berries and dirt on the nose, vibrant, bright acids, all cherry, cranberry and raspberry on the palate, tangy and refreshing, lively and playful, this achieves vibrancy, had with panko crusted chicken breasts roasted in the oven

Dark, rich color. Earthy nose. Bold blackberry and raspberry fruit and finish. Drinks more like a ripe Russian River Pinot than Oregon. Nothing subtle about this wine.

Cherry, raspberry, chocolate, cherry liqueur, some forest floor. Fresh and tasty on its own. A great pairing with our roast guinea fowl, which had a sweetness that paired with the pinot noir and enhanced the wine. 91+ with the food. Perhaps better with a year of bottle age, but tasty now. Very good QPR for $17 / bottle (on clearance sale).

One of the best of its vintage. Pop and pour. A bit darker in color than I was expecting. Tasted amazing. Fruity and sweet but well balanced. Delish. I will be ordering more.

Now there we go! This is a very nice OR pinot at this price point. Good balance, good fruit and acid. Nice structure and layers with some raspberry, strawberry, and cherry. Some moderate earthiness and no crazy funk. Nice complexity and reminds me why I enjoy Oregon Pinot when I stumble upon a bottle like this.

Better than the first bottle. Not as bright and much more earth and forest floor on the palate. Drink over the next couple of years.

Pop and pour and served without food.
Dark purple color. Nose is black cherries and some licorice. Some good fruit although a bit sweet. Notes of toast and vanilla on the finish.
Nice but perhaps lacking in depth.

The beautiful and expressive nose, showed crushed blackberry with blueberry skins, cherry tobacco, a dusting of spice, and hints of undergrowth and stem. On the palate, it was ripe yet fresh and delicate with cherry and strawberry notes. Dried strawberry and herbs with exotic spice and licorice saturated the senses, lasting long into the finish and finally leaving only a hint of floral rose behind.

A nose of cherry and some spice, medium garnet in color. A medium to full bodied single vineyard Pinot, with black cherry, currant, dusty, cola and spice on finish. A good value, still young. www.winelx.com

Blackfruit, spice and earth on the nose. Medium bodied and quite soft and accessible. Predominantly blackfruit based flavors with strong blackberry notes upfront along with plum and black raspberry. Adds some very nice stone, earth and spice notes on the finish. Acidity is still quite strong, even after being open for 4 hours. This wine is still really young and is just starting to come together; easily a few years from peak. The fruit is quite nice, especially once it starts to open up, deepen and blend. Based on others’ tasting notes, seems like there’s a good amount of bottle variation. But I see plenty of potential here so I’ll see how it ages.

It's cloudy, but I wouldn't call it a bad thing. The nose is funky with forest floor, mushroom, and wet rocks. Fruit is primarily ripe, dark cherries, raspberries, and pomegranate. There are traces of oak, tobacco, and spice, but it's mostly earth and fruit. Initially having a lightweight feel to it, the wine picks up some body with building acidity across the midpalate, and finishes long with some gentle tannin settling in late. Sweet cherry flavors stick around long after the finish. This is delicious Pinot noir.

Minimal handling seems obviously to blame for the cloudiness and sediment in the bottle. I appreciate the approach and consider this wine an achievement. I can see how it may not be a crowd-pleaser, but it hits the notes that I like.

Opened two more bottles tonight and found the same cloudy, pungent result as last time. Gave them to the drain to enjoy. Only 1 out of 4 has been enjoyable with two more to go. Won't wait long to uncork the remaining two. They are taking up cellar space and fall is almost here.

Medium body. Fragrant nose of cola and dark cherry. Fresh, vibrant, good acidity with soft tannins. Tart cherry, marciano, cranberry flavor. Restraint fruit, but a bit juicy. Will improve in a few years.

So, I posted a favorable tasting note recently after having the first of 6 bottles I added to cellar. Tonight, however, we found a cloudy mess of wine that seemed completely different. I don't know what happened, but we discarded it. I hope this is an aberration, as I did enjoy the original bottle greatly???

very cloudy, unlike any Pinot Noir I've ever seen, with a somewhat funky bouquet. Not obviously flawed, but something is clearly not right.

This was very fruity with bright cherry and bracing acidity. Not a lot of earthy flavors until day 2 when a hint of earth came out. Medium bodied and great if you don't want something overly complex.
