This night had a 2012 maybach as well. Incredible to compare a well integrated wine compared to a young one. Granted, different winemakers. This was a great wine. So smooth, long finish, dark blue fruits, subtle earth tones, and semi-sweet chocolate. This is a great exact of a wine with some many layers. The nose was not as big and the taste. Minimally acidity.

Abundance of oak overshadowed everything else. Nice fruit, complex and long on the palate, but needs alot of air to blow off the oak. I get that it is the QC style, but I think it would be much more approachable with a lighter touch on the new barrels. Glad I still have two bottles to allow for additional aging. Nevertheless, well liked at the table with folks who had no familiarity with QC.

This is not a great wine, but beneath the ordinariness is the suggestion of the Quilceda Creek bigness. This is my last bottle and I haven't loved this CVR, but in general, other vintages are pretty good. Don't get me wrong. For the money, this is a nice wine. But what kind of rating is it when the only thing I can say is "I've had worse."

From magnum. Plum, dark chocolate and liqueur. Great concentration and fruit, just still extremely firm and tannic in a manner that doesn't exhibit perfect harmony yet. Everything is there, but....

Very nice. Clearly young. Not special-seeming upon opening, but after 2 hours in a decanter the potential become more obvious. Cellar for 1-3 years and try again.

Dark red. Just tons of dark fruit, minerals and spice on the nose. Black currents, chocolate cherry, mocha, and even some black raspberry flavors. Tremendous balance, young but drinking marvelously tonight. My wine of the day but it did face a lot of tough competition.

Tasted blind with the 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2003. All very similar and I stand by my remarks from 2014. Just not my kind of wine, but it is well made and if you like this style good for you.

I get it. Cherry, bright red currant. More bright red fruit (rather than dark blue fruit) compared to the Leonetti. Vibrant, baking spices, subtle prune/fig amarone notes going on. Blueberry. Good to go now, but could use a couple of years to hit its peak. Give it a decant.

a very impressive wine. Double decanted, drank over two nights, silky, integrated, but amazing life left in this. Amazing wine for mid-30's, top tier

Perfumed bouquet with beautiful dark forest fruits, sweet spices, sweet licorice and beautifully integrated oak. On the palate dark forest fruits, sweet spices, chocolate, melted tannin and beautiful acidity. Fully mature and a great length. No problem cellaring this for a few more years, but why wait? Delicious now.

Consumed over two days. This is still young and needs to be decanted or consumed very slowly over one night. The first two glasses were tight without the great Quilceda nose, mid palate was boring and the finish short. Next day was a whole different story the nose was great and the finish seems to last forever. Give this bottle time in the cellar or some air time if consuming it in the near term.

I wasnt impressed, frankly. It seemed to have a bit of green to it. Olives, somewhat bitter. Coffee grinds, lacking the fruit component somehow. I have one more. Lets see if it evolves further.

I really enjoyed this wine. Had with friends at a high end Italian restaurant. One of the most stunning noses I've experience in a while. Old Bordeaux with graphite, lots of pencil shavings, leather deep forest/earth. Medium depth. Dark Cherry and Blueberry notes but it was light and petered out very quickly. Definitely past peak and fading fast as we noticed that we are at the tail end of the window or about past it. Drink now!

I'm not going to put a score on this, or leave any great descriptors because it wasn't properly served (my fault). After an ass-kicking climb on a snowshoeing trip this was drinkin too cold, without proper decanting, out of a solo cup in a dark cabin around a wood fire... That said I loved it, and on that particular evening I earned it!
