COLOR: Deep garnet with medium-garnet rim
NOTE: Lovely sandalwood-laced blackberry juice nose, cinnamon and tar, then medium+ mouth has nice bright black mulberry juice, acidic but in a good balancing way, that leads to the finish. This is NOT a 100 point wine but still maintains its solid core of fruit and structure almost the same today as it did 7 years ago when I first tasted it. Has hardly budged. This thing has another decade in it at least.

DECANT: 1-3 hours
GLASS USED: Bordeaux
TASTE: 9.3
COST: 120
VALUE: 5.0
TRY AGAIN: now - 2025
CORAVIN'D: first time, and now at 60%
PRE-POUR LEVEL: 100%
PAIRING: marinated beef, um um

good, but needs some acidity or zip. Nice nose of dark fruits and lead pencil, but flabby.

Group dinner at Lincoln Square Steaks on the UWS of Manhattan. Eight guys attended. All four wines were decanted at the same time. As the wines were drunk one at a time, the last wine was in the decanter for more than 90 minutes. The first wine was in the decanter for at least 30 minutes before we drank it. We had in order: 2011 Realm Cellars - the Bard, 2008 Quilceda Creek Palengat, 2008 Larkmead Vineyards LMV Salon, and 2007 O'Shaughnessy Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain. The group consensus was the O’Shaughnessy was WOTN, followed by the Quilceda Creek, the Larkmead , and the Realm was last.

Took a little while to open up, but it was rich, full bodied with dark fruit and cassis. Great with grilled flank steak and roasted veggies

I think Mtolerico nailed this one. "Good balance, amazing silky texture, lots of toasted oak and tar" behind the smooth black fruit. It is drinking beautifully right now.

In a great place right now. Very approachable with loads of dark chocolate and cherries. Drinking really smoothly, but has years left on it

Decanted two hours, dark brooding, heavy cassis and dark fruit flavors dominate, fairly well integrated. Monster of a wine, not for all palates, but we enjoyed it.

This is at a great spot. Dark berries, cassis, some tobacco. Medium acidity. Very polished, a tad too civilized. Very good finish. Everyone at the party loved it.

Not the best 2004 Quilceda creek I have had. This one seemed to have much more prevalent alcohol notes throughout and was sweeter than the other bottles we have had. Still a very good wine, just not what it usually is. See my previous notes for this wine.

Probably drank this a year early, as it seems like it still could develop a bit more in the bottle. But that being said, it was great. Lots of Blueberry and some other dark berry fruits. There was a lot going on here, after you got past the initial hit of fruit. Long finish. Definitely different than the big Napa Cabs.

Julian's graduation, Clyde Commons, Portland: Would never have opened a 2012 QC except for all the positive comments. I agree 100%. If you have more than just a few, open one up. Nose of fruit, mainly strawberry. Full body of fruit, earthy molasses taste, and tannins first hidden then appearing but very well balanced. Basically P&P with the remainder of the bottle going into a decanter. Not sure it is made for the long cellar, but will be fun finding out.

My first of 4 of these. Opened and let sit for about an hour prior to drinking. This wine is drinking beautifully. The color is garnet with a slight cloudiness. The nose is big with grapey fruit, spice, graphite and vanilla. On the palate the flavors are concentrated with currant, dark fruits, pepper spice, garrique, eucalyptus, and licorice. Beautiful balance. Long finish. This wine is surprisingly concentrated for wine coming from such young vines (10 years and less). QC is a class act all the way.

Open for 2 hours -- after tasting, we decided to decant for one additional hour. Served with pork ribs. Wonderful wine -- full bodied cab with smooth tannins. The terrific flavor of the wine really began to show after the extra hour of decanting. Wish I had more of this vintage. Should still be a great wine for many more years.

Dark Crimson- purple color, pervasive nose of dark fruits, some flowery notes, broad on the palate hitting all areas, mid and sides in particular proceeding to a long, lingering finish. Polished, delicate and of substance, smooth, balanced. Drinking wonderfully now.

Dark fruits, licorice, some smoke and new wood. This Red mountain Cab desguised as an Aussie shiraz is full throttle. A bit hot on the finish yet it has smooth tannins and packed with fruit. This is a wine for the medium term as it's already drinkable.

Sweet nose, jammy, cherry, coffee and background oak. This really showed how simple it was compared to some notably better wines in a blind tasting. It's a good wine, but just can't compare when opened with a more complex well rounded wine.
