opened and drunk over 3 hrs, this was the best and unfortunately last of my bottles, while these started out as acid/lemon monsters this has evoloved into a wine very much softer with apple/pear notes and honeyed texture with time open. The time in glass greatly improved the mouthfeel and integration of flavors/textures. I've noticed a marked difference in new bottling of this vineyard and don't know if the evolution will be the same, sad if not.

My first Rhys Syrah. Nicely complex and with a perfect balance. Classic Syrah aromatics. Expressive, but not too overt fruit. A very nice acidic structure. Will clearly benefit from further aging, but quite outstanding already. I love Cote Rotie and this fits wonderfully in my boat.

Darker golden color than the other bottles I've opened. All have been good with each one getting better. This is in a really good place now, but will probably improve with more time. Starts with vanilla, peaches, and lemon curd on the nose. Very aromatic as soon as it was opened. The nose improved with time and as the wine warmed slightly. The palate mirrored the nose with vanilla, peaches, citrus, lemons, a hint of spice and minerals. Great mouthfeel. Long smooth, well balanced finish. Just a touch of acid in the finish help to brighten the wine.

This is really good, a ringer for a top-class White Burgundy. Lots of ripe honeydew and green apple fruit, a good dollop of fancy oak, good density, lots of acid, lots of mineral bite, really good length. Excellent.

Delicious! A little spritz when first opened, but it turned into a richly textured and evolved wine. Lovely now, but no hurry here.

Medium green-gold color. Lemon, nutmeg, and a bit of vanilla on the nose. Palate has lemon, lime, nutmeg, apple, pear, and a slight buttered popcorn note that carries into a medium-long finish. Showing well and should continue to develop. Drink or hold.

Really nice. Very friendly young, which is not always true for Rhys Syrahs, but still seems built to age. Good fruit, acidity, and tannins, but the fruit is definitely leading at this point. From 500ml.

Very big oaky nose of vanilla. Yes, on the tongue I get the vanilla, and, maybe caramel. Citrus fruit flavors come with concomitant hit of refreshing acid. Quite spritely on the back of the palate—my guess is that is coming from the acid. Winner, winner.

Surprisingly excellent for a "village" level appellation wine. On the nose, fresh scents of cherry, lavender and underbrush mingle with a core of baking spice. The palate has black cherry, raspberry, cinnamon and pie crust, with loads of spice and a long finish. Superb.

The nose on this wine is spectacular, showing sandalwood, Asian spice and mineral laced chalky black fruits. The palate is silky showing a low alcohol, saline infused texture, with moderate sweetness and some brown sugar flavor. It's a little hollow on the mid palate and short on the finish, lacking energy and acidity it's showing older than 6 years.

A bit too much stem day one, back in fridge. Day two, fantastic. Wood, perfume, florals, and bright red fruit. Lots of lift on the palate but succulent fruit.

Enjoyed this. Upon opening, seemed very stemmy in a nice way. Drank with friends over 4-5 hours. Continued developing and trained a wonderful balance of old and new world. But mostly older world profile but without the bracing acidity I sometimes get in burgundy. Drank alongside '04 mags of top Oregon Pinots (Shea, brick house, beaux frares and bergstrom), martinelli blue side. I think it would've shown better and my palate would've appreciated it more if it'd been solo tonight.

Haven't had this since release. At the time it was impressively elegant compared to the outsized Alpines, but I think the Alpine special cuvees were the pride of the cellar this year and they got really impressive with a bit of age. Not sure this one has turned out to be at the same level. It is still nicely elegant but not offering much intrigue at the moment besides the fruit, which is in a sort of plummy stage showing some secondary development but not revealing any of the stony character that makes the Home so distinctive when it's on.

Ripe fruits and slightly coarse, grippy tannin on night #1. Loosened up considerably on day 2, showing more classically N. Rhone aromatics and a cool, low-alcohol style. Could easily be mistaken for a top-flight St. Joseph from Chave or Gonon. As with most all Rhys wines, a nice long decant is advisable here if you're thinking of opening one anytime soon.

Decanted for a little over an hour and enjoyed over the next several hours. It benefitted from decanting. Ruby color, showing no hint of going on 10 years. Very aromatic with plum, black cherry and strawberry. Starting to show more complexity than earlier bottles. Plum, black cherry, strawberry, spice flavors. The stems are minimally present now, just adding to the flavors. Long silky finish. At a really good place now. Not sure if it will continue to improve, but not going to decline in the near future.

Decanted. Open at first, but slowly shut down a bit. Still fairly aromatic, but at first the nose was intense with sandalwood, cranberry and sour cherry. On the palate, darker than the nose suggests with a mix of cherry and cranberry. Medium bodied, well-balanced acidity and a very clean tannic finish.

Very refined. Definitely old-world poise, but lots of new world flair. Needs time though.

13.2% abv. Medium light burgundy red, very expressive aromas. A predominately red fruit profile, with moderate depth and good length, this wine is hyper focused, fresh and vibrant on the palate. Enjoyable now and I'd expect this to continue to improve.
