A simple, fun little Pinot but the fruit tends to be on the darker side, with the alcohol showing itself a bit. Drank on day one and perhaps this would have shown better on day 2, as other notes seem to suggest.

Really great fruit, spice and earth. Medium to long finish. A great example of a well balanced complex California Pinot that doesn't try to be anything else. Very enjoyable.

Popped and poured, bright yellow-gold. Initially showing just a touch of reduction, the nose soon opens into expressive, citrus-filled aromas of lime slices, lemon verbena and orange zest along with hints of spice from subtle oak. Medium body. Honeyed citrus on the palate plus flavors of stone fruits and bit of toast on the back from deftly utilized oak. While there's also a tiny bit of sweetness on the close, it's cut by a deceptively quenching level of acidity. Very approachable now, this should get even better with short term cellaring and will make for nice drinking over the next few years.
Great quality for $28, this is a lovely Chardonnay.

Decant for 10 minutes then followed for 2 hours. Strong flavors with floral and Cali pinot flavors. Very smooth mouth feel. Gets better as time passes. Still obviously a baby but giving up an enjoyable experience even so. Not for the faint of heart and as pinots go, on the flavorful side of the ledger. It may not satisfy the IPOB crowd, but there's plenty of balance, just balance on the high side. Give this another 5 years at least, perhaps 10, and it will get better..

From the TN's below, looks like much of this wine ended up in Minnesota! Hazy in the glass, which reminds me of the Kistler style and is something I enjoy. Heavier than I remembered past tastes of this bottling being. Oak is there, weighing on the fruit a bit. We had this set against a ricotta and mushroom ravioli and that was nice as the wine needed the depth of food flavors to sync against. That was my main gripe with it, very nicely flavored just not as high toned as I recall the '09. Recommend enjoying these sooner than later as I worry the wine will continue to take on weight with age.

let this breathe if opening now (alcohol pokes through a bit on day 1). Day 2 it is drinking beautifully. Great combo of fruit flavor and and balance with spice. This penetrates the palate. Acidity is perfect. Delicious but not ostentatious.

Balanced- acidity is present but in tune with the fruit. Seems to have just more complexity than the average "good" bottle of Pinot

Significantly better than my first bottle, which makes me more convinced that that bottle was corked. Nice red fruit this time around and it blossomed with an hour of air. Very nice mid-weight cab.

"ATS" Wine Group, Spring Gathering: So delicious and classy, especially for the first few hours - showing a velvety mouthfeel with a dark raspberry and spice profile. Perfect weight and concentration and some spry acidity. Over time picked up a minty quality that I didn't love.

Nice citrus notes with a touch of oak. This seemed tight upon opening and could probably use some time. Remainder of bottle recorked and saved for tonight.

As a big fan of Larkmead vineyards and TRB's work with that winery, I have high hopes for this bottle. The fruit bordered a bit on the candy side for my palate, though I imagine this will dramatically fade and integrate with some time. Also skewed more red fruit, whereas I always think of Larkmead being more of a dark, brooding fruit cab. I plan to hold my final bottle until 2020 or beyond with the hope it improves.

Excellent, this is why I love Rivers-Marie pinots. Some are too big and chunky for my tastes, but I have just started with this vintage passing on those vineyards. Been on the list since the beginning. Love Summa, and especially the old vines. Delicious tart red fruits (pomegranate, cranberry, tart cherries), thyme, tarragon, earth, and minerals. Long finish. Beautiful on Fathers Day with wild halibut, roasted potatoes, and asparagus/rhubarb/Vidalia onion salad.

Brought to a restaurant paired with two seafood courses. Tropical fruit, meyer lemon, tangerines. Decent acid backbone. Not buttery but definitely some oak at play. Spouse didn't care for the oak whereas I didn't mind as much.

Our friend said she wanted an oaky Chardonnay. This was the closest I had in my cellar to that. Green/gold in color. The nose has some lemon cream with a bit of vanilla on it. She thought that was perfect. Less oak showing on the palate. Nice bite of acidity. That said, there is a roundness at the same time. Lemons with some creamsicle. Went well with the food. Our friend loved it.

Popped and poured and followed for 90 minutes. Dark, red fruit, brooding Cali Cab that is still in its infancy despite 11 years of age. This is the oldest R-M Cab I have opened. Bought direct "en primeur" from the winery. Powerful. The oak, whatever their once was, has integrated and the tannins are not fierce. No mouth pucker. The wine has smoothed out but the tertiary flavors have not yet blossomed. If I compare this with, let's say, a 2000 left bank cab-based Bordeaux I had last month that I also bought e.p., this is no where near as advanced in taste or in color, and the 2000 Bordeaux was not yet at its peak. IIRC, this wine was about $35 -$40 on release and was worth the ticket, and the wait. The wine does not quite have the finesse of the later SVD Rivers Marie Cabs, but represents a data point in the evolution of the winery. I remember about 9 years ago when someone on Ebob organized a blind tasting of 2004 Cali pinots and the R-M was the consensus WOTN. That was the first I ever heard of the winery and I signed up the next day. Glad I did. I have a full vertical of the cabs back to the inaugural 2003. I was very upset one year when I realized I had none of the 2005 until I contacted the winery to see if I could buy one to complete the set and they told me that they never made one that year.

13.8% alcohol. The nose is just gorgeous - Fragrant, inviting, warming, complex, and distinctive with cranberry, red apple, strawberry preserves, orange peel, Asian spices, mahogany/barrel spices, and potpourri. In the mouth, round/softer textured with a tart, tangy, higher toned, and sappy orientation to the red fruited profile. Nice spine of acidity, with a persistent albeit slightly bitter finish. Reluctantly, I passed this year's R-M pinot mailer with 'cellar diversification' as my rationale/justification; This bottle is certainly making me regret and reconsider that decision going forward.
