Slight taste of exotic fruits...maybe some citrus.....beautiful blend of a light butterscotch with a steely minerality finish.....still debating the perfect music to accompany...!
Loved this wine with some grilled summer squash and grilled french loaf...
The wine looks light gold colored. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like guava and honeydew. It tastes like butterscotch and mineral. The body is light/medium. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium.

This is a big wine but also displays a well balanced structure and finish. I would not say this has a lot of nuance but it is Grenache and it delivers on the fruit paste, jammy backbone that delivers a long and balanced finished. 15.6% alcohol.

Nose: raspberry, blackberry, very heavy smoked meats, and coffee.

Palate: spicy blackberry, leather, wet earth, dried tobacco leaves.

I have found the ultimate barbecue wine. This thing begs for a slab of dry-rub smoked ribs and some baked beans with bacon.

Spectacular with BBQ ribs. I want more. My same comment about Sanguis: this stuff isn't going to be $70 for long.

Yellow with med-lite viscosity in the glass. Nose of lemon curd, butter, sage, honeydew, slate and violets. Med-lite body with sappy citrus, slate minerals and toasted oak dominating the palate. Secondary spice, stone fruit, pineapple, Fuji apple and melon. High-quality hand and fruit, but lacking sturdiness I expect from this producer. Med-short finish.

What a contrast with the Pearlene Deluxe from the other day-this was absolutely killer. I don't normally like to spend too many ducketts on good light colored juice (had a glass of a friend's Lillian Roussane-really nice, and I love Lillian syrahs, but to spend that much on a roussanne would indicate the lobotomy was completed), but I would back up the truck for this juice. Excellent job, team Sanguis.....Manfred who?!

Wait wait wait wait!! She aint ready to dance. Just really learning the ropes (and then, really not really!) Nice fruit but just jumbled. Not coming together yet either. The fruit is there but really looking how to find feet. I'm pretty sure a few years of bottle time will complete the mix, but I'm not 100% sure. Either a real home run or a backwards K - only time (and quite a bit) will tell

What an elegant wine. If you drank blind you'd guess Burgundy. Dark cherry, dusty, grilling spices, awesome finish. It's probably going to get better with time, but man is it drinking great right now. I've had plenty of Kosta, Williams Seylem, etc and this is a level above. This stuff isn't going to be $70 for long.

Sanguis Wines Tasting (At the Winery -- Santa Barbara): Deep blood red with voluminous legs. A bouquet that erupts from the glass with garrigue, black raspberry, herbs de provence and black pepper that carry over into a fresh, satisfying finish, followed by a dollop of black licorice. The best of an already excellent tasting. Drink 2018-2025.

Sanguis Wines Tasting (At the Winery -- Santa Barbara): Lana Turner in a glass. Mysterious and brooding, but never over the top. Opaque red with crazy legs gripping the glass. Soaring aromatics that hit all of the high notes. Spice on the palate, along with ripe cranberries, rosemary, lavender and a dash of wet leaves. Very long and satisfying finish. Drink 2016-2025.

Sanguis Wines Tasting (At the Winery -- Santa Barbara): Might be the best rose' I've ever tasted. A light, zesty red all dressed up as a rose. What a mouthful! Dripping with roses and soft cranberries. Wet pebbles and minerals throughout. A finish that seems to go on forever. Wow.

2010 Sanguis Syrah Pilgrim

Santa Barbara County more

4/19/2015 - hrazdiiv Likes this wine: 93 points

This is a beautifully made wine. A nice deep colour is followed by loads of blueberry fruit that is very nicely balanced with some more subtle elements of medium oak and some nice baking spices on the nose; nice weight to the wine as well. Great 30 second finish is accompanied by medium-low tannin, my only complaint about this wine - I'd prefer more of the tannic structure for this to age. Nonetheless, this producer has winner in this version of the Pilgrim in this vintage which is ready to drink now and would be a guaranteed crowd pleaser for those enjoying premium Central Coast syrah.

Good bottle. New world but significant finesse and gorgeous fruit. As much as I complain about being tired of California wines, I couldn't get enough of this bottle.

3-hour decant, consumed over 3 hours with the borrachos. pretty forgettable wine. some funk, some carpaccio, plenty of blackberry and black cherry, a little spice, but overall just not enough to keep me interested. well-made, but i wouldn't buy it again at this price. if scoring, 87-89. still plenty of life left, though this was from magnum.
