Not over the top jammy or alcoholic, but the flavor profile was raisiny which is not something I enjoy very much. Big and flavorful but decent balance as well.

Still had plenty of legs to go. Still tight & complex, full-bodied & concentrated, w/ mix of dark berry, black cherry, dried currant, black licorice, tar & smoked herbs. Amazing flavor range in tight, focused style. Last one. Wish we had more...

A little closed and oaky. An hour decant and it was like a blast of oak and some dark fruit. Good and deep if you're looking for something powerful. Overpowered grilled filet a touch, but not overly so. Not what I was shooting for tonight.

This is a deep, inky, tannic Syrah bomb. I remember liking 07 better.

Excellent wine. Still on the upslope. Starting to show gradual signs of age. Verbose wine. Uncorked to a cherry stain on the cork with bleed about 20 percent up the sides. Poured a DARK red into the glass. The nose was intoxicating. Wildflower scents, something close to a blueberry, and herbs, chocolate truffle. The front of the wine is blueberry pie, very fruit forward wine with smoke and tobacco that mixed into the mid-palate with a nice mocha and truffle note that emerged again. Vodka soaked fig newton somewhere in the mid-palate along with caramel going to the finish. Wine finished POWERFUL with black licorice and a touch of age. This one was incredible. Purchased 3 years ago for 50 bucks, this one has a nice QPR. I am not sure how much longer this one has left, but I would say that it's probably done by around 2018. If you like your wines around peak, this is probably the year to drink this one. If you want this one with some good aged notes, I'd wait until 2016/17.

Initial nose of smoke, plum, bacon, cherry; almost no sediment upon decanting; black currant, roasted espresso bean and chocolate notes emerge; medium acidity; a bit hot; medium-plus finish; medium-plus cocoa tannins.

Tonight this inched into the greatness region. This had the 2 things I like in Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir; A roasted profile, ripe raspberry, and...... OH! Lots o' alcohol. The 14.5% ABV fueled a fun night. A dash more acidity would be beneficial.

Much better than when I had this in August (see prior note). When freshly poured, I really noticed the crazy tart puckering finish, but opened up a bit with air and found it to be pretty enjoyable. Didn't seem like a Syrah to me, but more enjoyable this time around.

Beautiful deep crimson color, with elements of wet leaves and earth. Cherries, red berry Jolly Ranchers, cocoa, oak, and dried mint aromas. A whiff of furniture polish appears then blows off. The palate shows a full body, richness, depth, a solid middle, and a briary finish. This was good, definitely worthy of 90 points, but I was expecting a little more complexity. Give it air.

Grape juice purple. Lovely nose of wood, tar, dark berry, with hints of floral perfume. Tar is really in the forefront in a pleasurable way.
Enters smooth but tannic. Espresso and dirt. Just ripening blueberries are sneaking through on the mid palate. Long, warm finish. Only 15m decant. Will surely open up nicely with more breathing time, and definitely can handle much more cellar time.

I think all these all other taster are being a bit harsh. I have had better Syrah but this by no means is bad. I can't call it layered but nor can I call it disjointed. So, I shall call it terraced. Nose is greenly intense with tobacco, plum aromas and moist earth. The viscous body carries berry, menthol, and wood flavors. Not nearly as good as their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay but still tasty.

Dark dark cloudy magenta. Blueberry, bacon, and baking spice nose. Medium bodied, black cherries, blackberries, white pepper, well integrated tannins, smoke, a touch of heat, and a medium to long finish. Saxon-Brown makes some damn fine wine.

This wine is big and sweet. It's very good but I think its no longer in my style of preference. That said, it was enjoyable and had a very sweet leaning flavor profile dominated by caramel and marzipan. There was also some concentrated lemon and a touch of ripe apple. More acidity would have made this a home run.

Not a fan of this one for reasons others have noted on this wine. Odd tartness that dominates. Not at all characteristic of the experience I have when drinking other Saxon Brown wines.
