Velvety, with nice combination of fruit and earth. Mellow spice on finish. Drinking very nicely right now.

Cellar time has greatly improved this wine. Still a medium ruby, but the primary griotte cherry aromas now are overlaid with spice cake, leather, vanilla. Sweet but complex in the mouth, and the finish has become much longer too. Clearly was in a sullen phase last time I tried it. Could it improve even more with a few years additional time?

Interesting nose, with some earthy, iron-like citrus notes (for lack of a better description, this reminded me of chewable vitamins); red fruit, but this smells like rhubarb can taste. On the palate, nice acidity and strawberry/rhubarb with great minerality. A hint of dusty tannin on the finish. I really enjoyed this.

Once an importer and boutique producer, the Scott Paul winery was sold to a long-time partner, Cameron Healy in 2014. I'll be curious to see if the style of the wine changes under the direction of Healy. The 2006 Scott Paul 'Audrey' Dundee Hills Pinot Noir has developed nicely, showing pretty notes of black cherries, woodsmoke, forest floor, rose hips, anise and a lovely top note of incense. Garnet-robed with a watery rim, it's quite vibrant, with lively acidity, fine tannins and excellent length.

Left in decanter for about 2 hrs. Nose seems more evolved than my notes from the last time indicate. Great bright red fruits, followed by some cardamom, mint, anise and a slight hints of stems. Very subtle, but surprisingly expansive nose. As I ponder this more, it gets a little darker with some earthy notes. On the palate, rather light bodied with mouth-watering acidity: sour cherries, more herbaceous minty notes and a nice bit of structure for a very clean finish. At this stage, I liked this better than the Audrey, which I tried relatively recently. This seems to be evolving extremely well.

13.5% abv. Screwcap. "A selection of the finest lots from the vintage from (Scott Paul) blocks of Maresh and Nysa Vineyards in the Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge Vineyard and Azana Vineyard on Chehalem Mountain."
When I picked up this bottle to open, I didn't really check the vintage and thought it might be a 2010--when I saw it was a 2012 I decided to go ahead and try it. It could probably benefit from 2-3 more years of cellaring and I will hold onto my remaining two bottles for a few years.
Purple color with crimson hue; nearly opaque. On the nose and palate I sensed dark cherries and a hint of pine needle. It was best on the third and final evening when it presented as more mellow, integrated and elegant than on the first evening. It did have enough gravitas to pair okay with a broiled lamb shoulder chop and baked potato. The 92 points reflects my assessment on the third evening.

Deep gold with copper highlights. The fruit is more or less a memory at this stage, but it's fresh and fully alive with diesel, popcorn, roasted nuts, vanilla, and coconut. A bit of alcohol pokes out on the otherwise long and enjoyable finish.

May sound lazy, but Clfkol nailed it so why duplicate? This producer (not this wine per se) is what brought me to Burgundy ... Great for my wine drinking experience, not so great for my wallet.

Really wonderful right now. PnP, opened up beautifully over 3-4 hours. 1 hr decant wouldn't hurt. My typical OR notes of forest floor, leather, muted but present berry fruit, but also some secondary notes of rose/florals. Med/long finish, balanced acidity.

I've really enjoyed 2011 OPN for their elegance, and this wine is no different in this regard. Decanted and left open for almost 5 hours. Perfumed nose of sour cherries/cranberries, raspberries, spice, sandalwood, some floral notes, and touch of coffee/earth. This was just seductive on the nose. This fruit comes from Maresh vineyard, but it seems very different in style from the 2011 Arterberry Maresh from the same vineyard (that was more high-toned and candied than this wine, which seemed to push in a darker direction). Intense acidity that commands your attention, but manages to just avoid being tart. With a swish, you can tell there is some structure in the background, but there is no perceptible tannin. The finish was rather long: the acidity comes in waves that make your mouth water and runs you through the cycles of flavor again.

I thought this was brilliant. I enjoyed this probably as much as the 2011 Cameron Clos Electrique, but I think this is the more subtle and delicate of the two wines. I think I liked this better than the 2011 Arteberry Maresh from the estate vineyard, but this definitely has a lot in common with that wine. I thought this was drinking wonderfully (the tasting pour was excellent as well; the main reason this spent 5 hours in the decanter is that stuff came up, and I think it would be fine with a quick decant as well).

Day 2: We had a couple of glasses of this left, and we let it get back up to proper temperature. This seemed more earthy today, with more herbaceous notes, and a hint of watermelon. Good evolution, and still beautiful acidity.

Wafting dried red fruits on the nose. A bit hot. Medium to light weight and dry. Nice sour cherry with a touch of cola on the palate. Living in Oregon, I keep trying to enjoy the Willamette Pinot Noir's. I'm always a little disappointed. Thins out quick on the swallow and disappears fast. Better on the second and third days. It is feminine and tastes pretty decent with some steak and mushrooms. I'm just a bit underwhelmed at this price point.

Very good bottle, just shy of the magical 90. Clear flavors, but not too bright. Benefited considerably from a brief decant (45 min or so). It was interesting how it change so rapidly. Looking forward to the next one.

Cherry. Dried bark. Pomelo. Earthy, like fall and beets. Medium body. Delicate aroma. Easy to drink - mellowed with age. Must be at its prime. Lacking the something more I'd hope for at this price point.

Medium garnet. A mildly savory nose with aromas of red fruits and herbs. Light bodied, with notes of cherries and vanilla, and a hint of bitterness on the finish. Needs time to round out.

It has been about a year since my last one of these. We decanted this bottle and then dove in. This seems to have improved a bit since last year. Beautiful translucent ruby red. On the nose, some earth, stone, a hint of spice, and a nice variety of red fruits including currants, strawberries and cherries. Medium bodied, and significantly fuller bodied than the 2011 Two messengers. The acidity seems a little softer than I remember from my note, but on the palate, there is good minerality and a good mix of sour and dark cherries, strawberries, and currants. A nice bit of tannin on the finish adds a little structure to round things out. Very elegant and, again, drinking very well right now. Paired perfectly with pan-seared salmon.

Nose has red current, cherries and raspberries. Palate was silky with nice tannins and mineral which balanced nicely with the acidity. Also had traces of white pepper and floral notes. The finish was medium, Simple, but well done. A good daily drinker.

This is really nice with good mid-term potential. The nose is filled with high toned red fruits, cranberry, red currant, red raspberry. There are hints of anise, damp earth, and cherry blossom. The palate is very good, mid-weight with good balance. Elegant and flavorful with red fruits, earth, and minerals. There is good acidity. Overall good now, but likely to improve with another couple years.
