Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir Tasting (Gary's Place): Dark red color. Decanted for an hour; drank a 70ml pour over 30 minutes. This had a very dark fruit profile, spicy, big on the palate, bold flavors, spice, some heat, just a bit unbalanced. This was pretty similar to when we had it before.

Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir Tasting (Gary's Place): This bottle was not right. I suspect heat damage, it had some anise, oak, and earth on the nose, but the palate was oak, alcohol, and largely devoid of fruit, what was there seemed baked.

Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir Tasting (Gary's Place): Medium dark red color. Decanted 1 hour; drank 70ml over 20 minutes. This was nice upfront, with a subtle dank earthiness, cherry, cherry cola, and spice. The palate was a lighter mediu body, sour cherry, black cherry, earth, spices, medium finish. Others reported this fading somewhat. I'd echo the comment to drink these up without a decant.

Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir Tasting (Gary's Place): Light gold color. Decanted 1 hour; drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. Had this about 4 months ago for the first time and enjoyed it very much. This bottle proved that was no aberration. Lovely nose with white fruits, pear, melon, subtle grapefruit, almond paste. The palate is medium bodied with focus and precision, pear, white fruits, mineral, little if any oak, wonderfully balanced, medium plus finish. There's a very nice elegance and purity to this. This turned out to be better than any of the 3 examples of Shea Wine Cellars pinot noir.

Shea Pinot Provided by and at Gary's: A 1 hour decant, drank a small glass over about an hour. A bit nicer than the regular 2008 Shea Shea. There is still a touch of anise, but it ends on a nice creamy finish. A bit of alcohol is present.

Shea Pinot Provided by and at Gary's: A 1 hour decant, drank a small glass over about 30 minutes. Frankly, this was a dissapointment. Soapy rosey perfumed licorice nose. The palate is more like a cherry liqueur. Really hot. Maybe an off bottle?

Shea Pinot Provided by and at Gary's: A 1 hour decant, drank a small glass over about an hour. Initially, nice bright crispy fruit, a little tar &earth. Some alcohol, not bad. This gets darker in the glass and becomes more of a sappy California wine. 91 for the first 10 minutes, 88 afterward. If you're popping one soon, I'd not decant it and drink it quickly.

Shea Pinot Provided by and at Gary's: This received a short decant. Consumed a small glass at a tasting. This wine was quite lively and acidic. I welcome this style, and it is much different than California or Burgundy. Melon and a little apple. To me, the balance of this wine shines through and makes it enjoyable.

Beautiful Pinot!

PnP and let stand in the glass. Consumed over several hours.

Darker purple with very limited clarity. Nose of red and dark fruits and spice with a nice cherry wrapper. I wanted to sniff this all day!

Medium to full body (big Pinot) lush mouth feel and just perfect balance of acids, tannin and alcohol. Red fruits with a line of bright cherry, nice spices and a decent finish.

Young but drinking well!! Let it stand in the glass or decant for an hour and she will open up for you.

Initially was incredibly deep and precise along the palate. Lots of dark berry, and sweet, almost tangy cherry. After about 30 minutes it began to collapse upon itself. Lost a lot of the structure and the flavor profiles got slightly out of whack. A charmer at first but grew brooding and slightly bitter. Overall enjoyable but it would have been fascinating if it had been able to keep it together the whole way.

Last tasted a little over 7 months ago. The tannin seems a little more resolved than last time. Like the last bottle: "complex aromas of intense raspberry, cola, cinnamon, spices and vanillian. Flavors of blackberry, cassis, raspberry, black pepper and spices. Big and intense fruit. Excellent structure." A longish finish. I really like this nose.

Light red; aromas and flavors of strawberries and bright fruit and cola flavors with some floral...burgundy; as it opened up it became more CA (a little more smoke and tar); nice clean and soft finish. I think that this is best a little on the cooler side.

Has aged wonderfully. It is a larger pinot, but has tremendous balance. A nice antitode to a string of California Pinots, which are delicious in their own way.

With a bit of air, this one is ready to drink. A nice blend of red and darker fruits, it has a nice balanced structure and is ready to drink, once it's had some time in the glass or a good decant.

ABV 14.4; nice mix of ripe fruit and some emerging tertiary flavors...in a very good place right now; great match with earthy braised duck/mushroom/farro dish that i first tried out10 yrs ago---a keeper. Look it up at
http://www.sfgate.com/wine/pairings/article/Braised-duck-quacks-for-Oregon-Pinot-Noir-2641654.php#ixzz2REXFnVKz

then add some extra braising liquid and add the farro for an extra hour or so and everything comes together

Dark, deep violet in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blueberries & raspberries with floral notes of violets, spice notes of allspice, nutmeg & cloves, earthy/dusty, sandalwood, herbs, minerals, dark cocoa, mocha & a hint of vanilla. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of balanced, silky smooth textured, plush, lush & rich, ripe fruit flavors of sweet dark cherries, jammy blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, earthy, cocoa, some cherry cola notes, minerals & a hint of vanilla. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present and has the ripe fruit & firm structure to continue development with additional (& needed) aging.
