Ginsberg and Chan Singapore Steak Supreme (Wooloomooloo Steak House): Strong, concentrated with that signature candied toffee apple nose, this can still develop. In the glass it was all concentrated fruit, chocolate, liquor, leather, honey but it didn't sing as much as expected, especially side by side with the Midnight Oil. To be revisited in a couple of years.

Ginsberg and Chan Singapore Steak Supreme (Wooloomooloo Steak House): Stunning showing of SQN's way with wine - convinces me that 15 years is about the time needed for a lay down of these massive bottles of pure hedonistic elixir. Nose of lavender, spice, sandalwood, honey, toast, lime and smoke. Lean, unflabby and sharply focused in the mouth, with intense fruit concentration, hints of game, chocolate, tobacco and vanilla to savour. Tapers into an elegant long but SUPER silky finish, lingers on the tongue for ages. Lightly dusted with super fine tannins. Well worth savouring even though so little of it is left..

Delicious. Young, massive wine with layers of flavor. Well balanced and thus very approachable. If you have more than one, make sure you enjoy one in it's youth.

I have been fortunate to have every Grenache from '01 and thru '11, and the '12, righteously named 'Stein', is absolutely the best. Decanted for three hours. Simply remarkable and perfect in every way, on every meridian. Tiramisu, garlic mashed potatoes, dried strawberry, garrigue, plum and lava. Exceptionally polished, endowed and balanced - squared. Exquisitely demure, then salacious and exceptional over time. Everything an ideal Grenache should be. This reminds me of the first movement from Mahler's Fourth by conducted by Reiner with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Drink 2018 - 2030.

4th Saturday Group brown bagger (Mark & Rochelle's): Deep inky color. Plum, black fruit, herb and mint aromas. Big okay black fruit on the palate, with hints of meat and vanilla on the finish. With two wines left in the flight, I knew this was ours.

This had been opened five hours earlier and spent two hours in a decanter. The nose was much more expressive when first opened, but the palate was tight as a drum. It definitely needs a longer decant than I was able to give it.

Too young, needs to settle down. Still, excellent dark fruit, smoked meat and flowers. Good acid and nicely balanced, but a bit too exuberant. Needs to settle down a bit.

Had a small pour on day 1 and another on day 2. Day 1 I found this alcoholic and unbalanced. On day 2, it had become much smoother, rounder and better integrated. It is reminiscent of a full-on Australian shiraz or even a port. The term "cocktail wine" comes to mind. I did enjoy it.

Best Burger Event, Monthly Tasting Group (Jason and Tracy's, Mpls, MN): Probably my WOTN, it shows amazing depth, fantastic savory, roasted meat, blood meal and smoked beef, tar, with dark fruit, but restrained and balanced in every way. Deep, provocative, wonderful. In a very good spot on a PNP! Thanks so much Diane and Derek!

Almost black in color, the wine is still extremely young. On the nose there were notes of eucalyptus, mint, and smoked meat. The taste is still very rich with sensations of barbecue, liquid blackberries and more mint which seems to come across in many of the SQN wines. After having this 3 times over the last year, it merits further cellaring of 10+ years.

Beautiful color; floral nose with light fruit; peach and berry flavors with long finish for rose. My score might be inflated due to my surprise at how good it is, but for a summer evening with grilled chicken or fish, I consider it Outstanding.

Reva 06 vs Poker Face Dinner (Bistro Boheme): I can't believe that I ran into this wine again for the third time in a year.
It is consistent with my previous notes. Classic syrah with a lovely aged profile of bacon and smoked meat. There is still plenty of fruit and a huge balance.
It remains a very impressive wine that I continue to adore!

Very young it is certainly a very impressive wine with an impeccable balance!
A real treat to taste this so very young!! A huge wine that can stand next to the best SQNs ever made!

SQN - Legends: What an impressive wine!!!! The flavors are just stunningly beautiful and expressive.
Packed with sweet blackberry fruit, coal and smoked meats but also a refreshing note of fresh flowers.
The aromatics in this wine is just insane. For me this most likely one of the best SQN wine ever made.
Even though it has some many different facets and flavors in, it still has that magic balance which makes the wine true perfection.
An incredible wine and a true legend.

SQN - Legends: This was really a bottle I had looked very much forward to tasting and it didn't disappoint!!
The flavors are incredible dark plum style fruit with a liqueur-style sweetness to it. Packed with impressive spices, smoke, roasted meat and vanilla.
Even though everything in and about the flavors of the wine can seem over the top, everything is just integrated in a perfect and very impressive balance.
This is just a stunning and mind blowing wine.

SQN - Legends: Very impressive wine with plenty of fresh and young blackberry/cherry fruit but also some beef, smoke, spices and vanilla. Everything is just mixed together with a wonderful acidity and tannic bite.
This is again a pleasure to taste this wine and it would be really nice to taste it even further down the road as it just keeps getting better. It is however drinking extremely nicely right now!
Just an impressive and beautiful wine that just lacks the final depth to reach perfection.

SQN - Legends: The wine is clearly showing its age and has notes of earthiness and smoke but still with a solid, but mature fruit core.
It is a great pleasure to taste a SQN with some maturity to the fruit but in this case it is perhaps not the best example as it was starting to show the tendency to be a bit tired.
Still a very solid and balanced wine

SQN - Legends: The wine is showing a little age but still with plenty of fresh fruit and a wonderful balance and acidity. This wine really shows me that the SQN wines age with grace and should be taken very seriously for that potential as well :-)
It does have a slight green tone to it but not in a disturbing or harmful way. Everything is well integrated and overall just a really wonderful wine with plenty of acidic structure that will make it last even further.

The oily fruit was to much without the acidity coming through. Should perhaps have been decanted way longer but that is just a guess.

Pop and pour and enjoyed over 4 hours. Deep dark red to rim. Effusive nose of cassis, dark berries, smoked meats. A hint of reduction blows off after 30 minutes. Intense, powerful, mouth-coating deep, layered lush ripe dark fruits, good balance, long finish. Extraordinary.
