PnP. Translucent crimson in the glass. Being my first counoise, I'm unfamiliar with the characteristics of the varietal, but this is delicious. Somewhat reticent nose, a whiff of red fruit and some spice. On the palate it's quite fragrant, with notes of red fruit, spice, a hint of burnt caramel, and a slight pinot-like bitternes. Medium-bodied and smooth, with a medium/long finish. Beautifully balanced, especially considering its youth. *Night 2* More of the same, but a little softened and more rounded. A delightful and expressive wine.

PnP. The ersatz "cork" slipped from the neck as if in a hurry to exit, followed by intriguing wafts of acetone, tamarind, roasted plums, greasepaint, and EchoSonic amp. A mouthfeel of blue velvet. Initially, the palate is rich and satisfying with dark red fruit and spice, but without quite the complexity of the nose. Drying tannins. At this stage, 20 minutes after opening, this is a wonderfully complex and unique wine. I shall withhold further judgement and check back tomorrow. Can't wait. *Night 2* The weird but enjoyable notes of glue and guitar amp are diminished, leaving dark red fruit and spices on both the nose and palate. At this stage it is quite reminiscent of Stillman's other high-alcohol Syrah-blend tour de force, The Colossus. A little hot and spiky, but still very satisfying. I shall save 250ml for tomorrow night. *Night 3* Nose: Dark fruit, cedar, alcohol. Palate: Dark fruit, alcohol, coffee, a hint of tar. Complex and hard to pin down. Did I mention it has a nice loooong finish? I'm sure this wine would be totally different again on night 4, but I can't make a wine I like last 4 nights.

A little more candy and a little less acid than the 2013 - which I preferred to this, slightly. But this is still a very nice rosé - especially for the price.

Give it a long decant. Initial tannins mellow over a couple days and it is much better.

Citrus notes on both the nose and palate, but a little bitter finish. OK wine, but nothing special.

Very pale yellow in the glass. Nice fruity muscat and grapefruit on the nose, and a good wollop of fruit on the palate as well, but well balanced with a bright zing of tingly acid that lasts through the long finish. Just slightly sweeter than bone dry. Very fresh, totally enjoyable.

Wish I had taken notes while drinking, but it was in the midst of much merriment and many other bottles. It was fresh and funky with all the attitude one expects from a Stillman Brown wine. Not very pinot-like, but who cares, if it's delicious.

Many Americans think rosé is for sissies. This wine is not for sissies. First of all, it's not even pink. It's translucent red. It has no sweetness whatsoever. And it's chewy. It lives up to its label - a rosé with attitude. Plenty of fruit, but also some grip. It's delicious. I'll try and give more precise notes on the next bottle...

A Tasting of Two Petit Sirahs: Serving temperature: 60 F

5:45 PM CST PNP without decanting: very dark in color, very black/purple as expected with a PS with a fair amount of sediment. Simply put, this is eye candy. Nose and palate are very closed. Very silky.

Decanted and consumed over three hours from 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm:
Appearance: black/purple, inky, sediment present
Nose: still muted but opened up toward the end of the tasting. rubber.
Taste: blackberry, blueberry tartness. This wine began to open up toward the end of the tasting and it improved significantly over time. It was quite enjoyable 4 days later too. I won't open another bottle until sometime after 2015 as I think this could use a little more time in the bottle.

Pnp right of the fridge, wine pours a salmon pink and is clear of any cloudiness. It's primary aroma is maraschino cherry with some strawberry and watermelon notes in the background. On the tongue the wine comes across as crisp and fresh and full of fruit. The bottle gives no info. As far as varietals used but I would guess its heavy on Grenache. On the pallete the strawberry note and watermelon are much more prenounced. The alcohal is low and not noticeable.

This is a great rose with nice acidity that will hold up to lots of foods. It couldn't handle spicy Thai food though so don't treat it like a low PH white. For comparisons sake I prefer the 2012 which had some similar features but had more a candied fruit nose. I'll be drinking this and the WC pinkie swear long into summer. Nice job Stillman.

On pop and pour, I wasn't impressed. The nose was musty and the flavor had a strong sour layer. After decanting for an hour, the mustiness was gone and the nose was full of red fruits. The flavor of fruit came through and the sour notes had faded, although not completely. I think I may have pegged this as a zinfandel on a pop and pour if I'd had it blind.

86 is a fairly high score for me, for a white wine, so take that as you will. This was a nice, crisp, bone dry wine. Very pale in color and very clean tasting (no bitterness or off-flavors that I always tend to pick-up on in white wines. I got slight more mineral then fruit, but that is probably just my pallet adjusting to the dryness. Little bit of tropical fruit, but I got more of a green apple from it. Good wine, definitely a more enjoyable white, just probably not in the price range that I would spend for a white that doesn't blow me away.

I drank this bottle a while ago so going off memory here. My thoughts at the time was that I enjoyed it overall although it wasn't it my normal wheelhouse. I liked the body that it had, the fleshy citrus/melon fruit, the clean finish despite being 14+% ABV. I did recall that the wine had improved with air time, got better after it was open for about an hour. This would likely go well with some sushi or seafood. Definitely worth a try.

Not really my normal preferences as far as whites go, but much to my surprise, I quite enjoyed this. Floral, fruity, and semi-dry. Great with food. This is a Riesling-drinker's white, for sure.

A bottle of this lovely Viognier magically appeared right next to my sushi dinner tonight. What a lovely pair. This wine can easily be over powered, just take a clump of wasabi in your mouth and you'll see what I mean. But it's compliments sushi, pieces, probably not most rolls, very well.

It's very light in color; tanish with a touch of yellow, leaves a thin coating around the glass. The aroma is pleasant; clean with some melon. I don't know the specs, but would guess this has low alcohol, high acidity and a little RS, maybe 1 or 2%. There's definitely a sweet flavor. It had a nice feel in the mouth and a short finish. Flavors included a touch of vanilla, citrus and the sushi enhanced the flavor with some pineapple and watermelon.

I've had a few Viogniers that have been all over the place. This one feels like it was very well crafted and is a pleasure to drink with or without food, but the food should be fish or chicken without many spices. I'm not good at pricing wine, but at $15 to $20/bottle, I'd say this is a very good buy. I just wish I had some room for it. I have a feeling this wine was truly made to drink now and may stand up for a couple of years, but I wouldn't cellar this for long.

Final comment: I really enjoyed this wine. You can tell because I had 3 glasses when usually one glass is my max.

(EDIT: I ordered 2 more bottles even at the higher price.)

Light straw color. Refined, inviting nose of melon, kiwi. Refreshing, bright and acidic on the palate, well-balanced, restrained floral and fruit notes. Nice long lemony finish. Nothing stunning here, but very drinkable, solid value, and classy in its own way.

PnP: very pretty nose. I get a little bit of lychee, tropical fruits, the nose is sweet but not like sugar, maybe a hint of lime. The palate is very full, the acid is stronger than I remember, really refreshing. Weird tasting note alert: I get a Sweet Tart candy thing on the palate. Lemon/lime. Lingering finish. Like 30+ seconds long. No alcohol whatsoever (12.7%. The sweetness I remember isn't there (although it might return as the wine warms). The mouthfeel reminds me a bit of Chenin Blanc, but without the usual sweetness associated with CB. At room temperature, this wine isn't nearly as enjoyable. I suggest serving around 45 degrees F. Really enjoyable wine.
