2021 Storrs Pinot Noir Santa Cruz Mountainsmore |
3/3/2024 - Grillgod Likes this wine: 91 pointsRich smoky cherry flavors, some tannins on the finish. On the bigger fruit side when I think of previous vintages, it could use some cellar time, but will pair nicely with food right now to offset the tannins. Pork ribs with smoked chipotle BBQ sauce should work well. |

2/27/2024 - redtideguy Likes this wine: 88 pointsThe bouquet is light - dark berries, very little alcohol. The taste is dark cherry and currents, with noticeable astringency that smoothed out quickly. The finish is exceptionally long, with flavors of dark berries again. Overall, this is a very nice wine. I would love to get another bottle |

2/3/2024 - jackandjasonshouse@gmail.com wrote: 92 pointsThis was a Costco treasure find, recommended by our resident Som from the in-store wine team. This Pinot is earthy and medium-bodied with bright, herbaceous notes of strawberry, pomegranate, thyme, sagebrush and moist forest. Well balanced and embodies the point of views of both the male and female winemakers. Due to its aging in small French oak and long-term bottle aging, we found this wine to be smooth and supple with notes of vanilla, oak, brioche, and light spice. A real delight on a rainy Saturday night at home. |

10/29/2022 - stevetimko Likes this wine: NRThis is showing well and the CellarTracker! suggested drinking window ending in 2015 was pessimistic. Jason Brandt Lewis suggested this on Chowhound (RIP Chowhound) as an example of a restrained petite sirah. I checked with a Santa Cruz Mountains vineyard owner to see if Storrs got much smoke. It didn’t, so I bought two bottles from K&L Wines and promptly forgot about them. I decided to bring one to a get together to match with Glenn’s London boril. |

4/22/2022 - Zinslut Does not like this wine: 79 pointsI have Respected the Storrs brand for a verities of consistent well made wine for 25 years. Their SCM and Christy vineyard bottling have made it into my cellar as a well made Chardonnay specialist at a fair price. In this 2020 bottling I don’t recognize any Chardonnay varietal elements. You can tell it was well vinefied for pick ripeness, barrel fermentation , sur lees aging, and Oak aging. As in Invasion of the body snatchers this wine became a Pod Wine and what came out doesn’t resemble any Chardonnay in my long repertoire. Solid one note Honey dew Melon nose and flavors… sometimes found in SB or Soave. A touch of oak and diaciatele from malo latic |

12/13/2021 - Shane B Likes this wine: 91 pointsRhone like apricot nose herbed with nutty galangal mineral notes. Medium body with mild acidity, slightly tart. Good complexity. Notes of anise on the long delicious mineral finish. Excellent especially at this qpr. Delicious now with some potential for aging a few years....maybe more. Reminds me of a white CdP with five years of age. Made a coq au vin blanc using the first glass from the bottle and paired the rest with dinner. Just perfect. |

There is a bitterness on the roof of my mouth that I would not expect in a PN that doesn’t seem like a usual tannin pucker. Too harsh and begs for food. Tried Mt Tam cheese (nope) and cheddar ( which made it taste like Koolaid) $20 at Costco. Not buying more. |

3/15/2021 - ChateauShiny Does not like this wine: 86 pointsMedium garnet in color. Strong nose of cola, raspberries, cherries, vanilla, and earth. Cherries, vanilla, pepper, and cola hit the palate. Off-dry in sweetness to me and is flabby. There is not much of a tannin structure. What is there is light and round. There is not enough acidity to balance out the sweetness. Long oaky vanilla, pepper, and cola finish. |

1/24/2021 - der Schmecker Likes this wine: 91 pointsFirst class. Can stand with the best petite sirah made anywhere. Deep purple mountain fruit that offers just the right amount of tannin to tighten the final taste sensation. Enjoyable with and without food. Purchased 2020 at Storrs winery in Aptos during a temporary break in the coronavirus lock downs. Will gladly buy again. |
