Beautiful bouquet on the nose of mixed berries and oak aromas. Jammy on the palate with medium finish. Not quite as velvety smooth as the 2009 but still an excellent Zin typical of Storybook.

This was one of our most pleasant finds.....a beautiful floral nose on opening....needed no time in the glass but def improved over 45 min of time. An absolutely delectable zin (51%) cab (37%) blend with merlot and petit verdot mixed in.....soft, velvety, just the right fruit with delicate spice but not watered down or weak.....wish we had more than 1 bottle left.

Well this was just darn delicious. I am glad I waited. Big and rich yet still balance, even after all this time. Drank over a couple of hours and it didn't fall off. It still has life ahead. Wish I had more.

Rich dark red fruits. Tasted blind, it was guessed to be a cab.

Dull dark maroon with larger lighter rim; nose shows vanilla and balm with heady fruit that is thinner with age, some sour cherry and raspberry along with blue fruit; palate shows little structure but the acid has kept this together, pleasant fruit, slight brandy warmth on finish.

Spectacular. Opened 4 2007 (Pinot, zin, Syrah and cab) with an herbed roast leg of lamb. All were great matches. This is drinking beautifully, silky and smooth with great balance. Not a jammy zin but much more subtle and elegant.

Vanilla notes, and nice mouth feel. Floral nose. Not too hot, for a zin that is.

Powerful, ripe and punchy. Luscious dark fruit, spice & oak. Needs to decant 2 hours to blow off a little heat. Still youthful. Could be exceptional

Not metallic anymore. Just a very boring cabernet. I suspect the only way that storybook mountain was able to sell this one at $50/ bottle was to at-their-mercy wine club members.

This deep ruby/red wine (a blend of 51% Zinfandel, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot) flaunts intense aromas of wild berries, anise, pine and chocolate. Full-bodied, fresh and with nicely integrated alcohol (14.5%), it delivers flavors in line with the nose. The tannins are medium in weight and mildly grippy in texture. Layered and building in the middle, it concludes with substantial length. This somewhat unorthodox blend takes the best from each varietal to create something memorable. Drink now-2019.

I bought this magnum of '93 Reserve on a visit to Storybook Mountain back in the mid-nineties. Mr. Seps, the founder/owner, wasn't the friendliest man I've met on a vineyard tour but I consistently heard that his reserve Zinfandels were exceptionally long lived wines. Finding an appropriate opportunity to pull out a magnum of zinfandel proved difficult and as such this wine sat in my cellar for close to 20 years. Thanksgiving 2014 seemed as good a time as any to bring it out and pull the cork.

I'm certainly glad I made this choice. This is a remarkable wine and dispels the notion that Zinfandels should be drunk early and without much critical appreciation. I love this wine. It bears no resemblance to the full throttle, high octane Zinfandels championed by the likes of Turley. In the decanter, it exhibits soft, red hues and has almost a Burgundy feel in the mouth. Notes of bright cherry are complemented by the softest of tannin and acidity on a long finish. The wine is soft, round and lush. A perfect match for Thanksgiving dinner. I hardly expected to finish the magnum but I now suspect we will have no problems emptying the bottle. This will probably be drunk straight through dessert leaving a Trimbach '92 Riesling unopened.

Honey, yellow peach, yellow flower, and pear make up the initial impression. Becomes more tropical as it warms. Medium body and medium finish.

Drunk tonight with chicken enchiladas and black beans. Sappy, tart red berry fruit and pencil lead that is packaged in a sleek, taut package. Medium bodied and not in the least bit jammy, it shows all those characteristics that I value in Zin with none of the excesses so fashionable these days.
