suffered next to Turley Hayne PS of same vintage.

SBR lacked length, structure and character. Palate was one dimensional, little to no texture or secondary flavors. Not bad just ordinary.

Deep big Foley fruit and silky tannin. This was another great SBR with Plum, blackberry, coffee and smoke notes. Large scaled high alc beast. Fun to drink but defiantly a hedonists wine.

See TOMLEE 8-19-13 notes. Massive, cassis licorice, and almost liqueur like. 375ml...would not wait much longer. I do enjoy this style!

Tasted last night and did not take notes. Lots of ripe fruit and structure left. Tannins are still quite present and while not chewy they do leave a drying sensation on the palate. This wine has at least another 5 years left before it thinks about declining at all, possibly longer.

Outstanding wine, we decanted through a vinturi and let sit for an hour and a half while we drank a bottle of Seasmoke Pinot Noir. Dark fruit on the nose, the palate was blueberry, blackberry, cigar box with a touch of toffee. Unlike 10 months ago when I last drank a bottle this time the long finish had hints of fig.

Popped and poured...decant would have helped with some sediment, but still very tasty...pitch black...juicy plums and blueberries with a long finish.

Interestingly enough, my note on this wine is pretty similar to my note in 2009. It's a big ripe wine, don't get me wrong, but it's integrated. There's a sweetness to it and a touch of vanilla from the oak but it isn't out of balance. Just really forward giving gobs of dark fruit with a big dense ripe structure. The tannins have resolved and have softened. I think it's in a pretty good place right now and it drank pretty similar for a couple of hours.

The wine does a really good job of straddling the line of being too high octane but it reins itself in with enough acidity to keep it bright and not goopy.

Bright blueberry and violets upon opening, along with creosote; light in weight with a watered-down mouthfeel that makes this very easy to drink in spite of its brief finish. Flavor is generally sweet blue fruit, somewhat extracted as noted in other notes. Still don't believe this will have great longevity, but Bob did a great job producing a solid wine from an off year.

Didn't keep notes, but recall it being quite extracted. Deep, viscous, rich and velvety. Lots of ripe fruit (maybe too much) with nice secondary aromas, but the finish was somehow awkward. Not bad at all, but one of those wines that equalled less than the sum of its parts.

Final bottle, followed over two nights. Needed about 40 mins for some off notes to blow off but was otherwise a nice wine in a very nice place. Final bottle, would drink remaining bottles within the year if I had more.

- Brick color - Dark color and pleasant aroma. Fruit comes in the middle of the taste with a firm bitterness at the finish. Excellent pairing with this slow cooked brisket.

I think this was the '06 vintage. Deep purple. Decanted 2 hours. Full bodied with complex thick black and blue fruit. Long finish.

This wine is drinking amazingly right now. As a pop and core, it was a little angular for the first 30 minutes, but with airtime that softened up and left us with round tannins supporting luscious cock fruit and good amounts of leather and Oak. There is a slight amount of stoniness tip of the body and finish. The dark fruit changes to more pure plum preserves in the finish. I don't know that this wind benefits from for their age. It is drinking perfectly well right now.

This is a dark giant brooding wine, but missing some backbone. Dark fruit and spicy black licorice make this easy to drink, but lacking the structure I expect from a wine of this caliber.

Drank a 375ml with vegetarian lasagne. The wine is drinking beautifully. Dark purple in the glass. Tannins are resolved and the wine is smooth as silk. Another great Bob Foley wine. not showing age but, no reason to wait.

As I mentioned 2 years ago, I like this vintage. Still a big wine, though. I love the asphalt, black and blue fruit aromas and flavors. Some heat at the finish.

My last one. Opened about an hour ago, and man, this is of a leaner expression which matches my perception of the wine from a few years back, too. Has the dark SR fruit, but it's almost crunchy-like and chalked with iron and tension. Fortunately, this will be poured about 4 hours from now, and we'll see how it does. More syrah like at this point that what can often be decadence for SR PS.....another 24 hrs of slow ox air and having finished dinner, just enjoying now this wine as a nightcap, so to speak. I know these wines can get big, sometimes even boozy for me, but this 2003 is just fine. At room temp, and I let all the cellar chill fall off this wine and allowed it to get to room temp (70f), there is no booze signature here at all. Lots of dark blackberry, some dark plum and light chocolate, iron and a light brushing of tannin. This is listed at 14.8% on the bottle, and I would offer this is pretty close, maybe a few tenths into 15% but this is not the 'big' kind of SR: dark, lots of fruit but isn't as dense as the bigger years. This is now over 10 years old and is for me drinking great, with some light structure. Make of that what you want and I do like to drink my wines younger, so with that said, I say this is in a nice spot.

I agree with Ken V. Really dark color. Soft tannins. Young. Tasty. Blackberries and spice, along with dark fruit. This was a drink with 2 hands wine. Loved it!! No rush. Drink or hold.
