Dark garnet, completely opaque. Fully developed aromas of dark fruits, earthy. Full-bodied flavors, coarse texture, deep black fruit flavors with a nice long aftertaste. This was more power than elegance but perfectly ready, plenty of fruit and unobtrusive tannins.

This is a powerful wine! Fresh acidity, great tannic structure and lots of red, blue and black berries. It mellowed out over a couple hours, but pretty much ready to drink within 30 minutes of breathing.

Decanted for about 4 hours at cellar temperature (58 degrees). That was not enough. Next time will put in a decanter in the morning. As this opened up, it lost some of the raisin smell (almost port-like) on the nose and became a great fruit perfumed scent with lots of chocolate. The taste was excellent, very enjoyable. Still feel it will be good for several years more in the cellar. Very balanced.

Three Big Boys (Switchback, Carver Sutro, Mollydooker) (Home): Had a bottle five years or so ago that was "unpleasant". This was the opposite. Wow. This was fantastic. Purple in color. The nose is exuberant with black raspberries, licorice, slight vanilla and plums. Just gorgeous texture. Mouth coating yet supple. Delicious. Lots of fruit but enough acidity to be balance. Plums, black raspberries and slight burnt earthy notes. Long finish. The kind of wine that makes you keep taking sip after sip as its so delicious, but you want to slow down and contemplate it. Probably five to ten years from full maturity but at a great stage right now.

Tasted non blind.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of boysenberries, plums and cherries. Flavors of plums, black berries and black cherries. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold. Throwing a little bit of sediment at this time.

3 years since my last taste. It was a long day working on the house in cold weather and I needed something to warm my soul. This wine is bigger than I remember. As dense and extracted as any PS I have ever had. Black as night, viscous, loaded with black fruit, cocoa, and chewy chalky tannins. Just a hedonistic, tooth staining, stick to the roof of your mouth pleasure that every once in a while is just the right fit. Warning, may become habit forming.

Lush and round but not much depth or concentration. Quaffable merlot with red fruit, koch and some vanillin oak. But not on par with this bottling and disappointing considering the vintage.

Drink up.

This one is a beast! Huge black cherry and blackberry fruit, intense boldness and great balance. Also has some chocolate and tar notes. Long finish, chewy tannins, great wine.

Thick, dark, and inky. Big dark fruits, blackberry, black cherry, with some licorice and leather notes. Alcohol pretty high here and it shows, very 'hot'. Long finish, firm tannins, probably still needs to sit.

Had this about 3 days ago via coravin, came home and opened the bottle which drank way better then the initial sampling in which I thought there was some overripe fruit on the nose and palate. This was not noticeable when I opened the bottle and sampled the wine. Has alot of life ahead and I hope it will come together just little more.

Not quite as powerful as it once was, this is still a solid wine that shows good structure and balance and should be consumed now. Deep purple core with modest bricking on the edge. Tar, charcoal, overripe fruit and faint pepper on the nose. Tannins fading (DO NOT DECANT THIS - PNP ONLY) this coats the front palate but lacks some of the depth of its youth, quickly dissipating mid-palate. Red cherry.

Drank alongside a 2009 Lewis Reserve Cabernet, 2010 L'Aventure Estate Cuvée, and a 2012 Bevan Ontogeny. The SBR came in #4 among the competition.

PnP, the SBR was initially very coiled-up, throwing out some high-pitched red berry fruit flavors: red currant, ripe cranberry, sweet pomegranate, red and black licorice, and some spice. A little alcohol on the finish, but not distractingly so.

After two hours in the decanter (at cellar temperature - 54 degrees), the true depth and complexity of this wine started to really emerge. Darker fruit flavors emerged: blackberry, dark plum, raspberry liqueur, red and black licorice, cacao, and some cedar. Became smoother over time in the glass.

I definitely recommend decanting this wine for a couple of hours (possibly up to 4 hours prior to consumption), or hold for another couple of years. Had a decent amount of sediment, so it helped to strain/filter when pouring into the decanter. 94+

They should just not bother to put vintage dates on Petite Sirah. The wines just don't age! This one, 12 years old, is still youthful, fruity, dense, dark as a moonless night, voluptuous, sexy, spicy, and almost perfect for the varietal. What can I say. Enjoy more Petite Sirah in your life and you'll enjoy your life more. Amen.

Wow -moving cases into the cellar and had to try it, from a 375, decanted through a vinturi and let sit for an hour or so. Fruit and wood on the nose, the palate was cedar, blueberry, chocolate, fig and so much more. The finish was smooth and full. A couple of years in the cellar and this is a 95/96. Just an awesome wine.

An impressive Merlot-based blend that combines intensity with structure. Full in body, blackish red in color, fragrant nose of blackberry, chocolate, and herbs. Layered tastes of plum, black cherry, lead, and rosemary, with a chalky but lingering finish. 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14.5% alcohol. I typically find Foley wines to be too jammy, but this wine has more balance - not as elegant as a Blankiet, not as deep as a Carter, but easily on par with a Shafer, Pride, or Plumpjack.

With no aeration so simply was grab and pour. Needed air. Seemed to be gentler, without the heat signature I found recently in the 2012. This bottle went too quickly and nothing to retaste today.

Finishing off a previously CV'd bottle; followed over 2 hours after popping the cork, but not decanted. Dark black fruit, faint prune, earth on the nose. While initial tastes of the wine were very dry, as the wine warmed and opened it balanced nicely. Mocha, tobacco, dark fruit, fig and earth. In a very nice place but no rush. Agree with '19 at the far side of peaking.

This was very nice. Can add this to Pride and one or two other producers of Napa merlot that I really like. Noticed the age development, but the wine isn't on the decline yet. Lovely notes of plum. Very soft and smooth. Would recommend. Tannins aren't very noticeable.

Still has lots of power with lots of red, tart fruit for a Merlot. As I was drinking this, it was obvious that this would have been better with more initial sweetness from youth. Still a very complex and powerful wine with a long, dry finish. A bit disjunct....Drink, don't hold

2 hour decant This was way over the top for my taste. Rich, chocolaty, sweet, syrupy, and a bit hot would be my best description. Over extracted to put it mildly.
