Complex, brooding fruit on the nose; dense, viscous fruit on the palate - very good potential but quite closed and hard to judge.

This is still an infant. A few hours after opening it felt a bit out of balance with notes of alcohol sticking out. Very good and intense on the palate though. The remaining 1/3 of the bottle was re-corked, and having spent a week in the fridge it had improved considerably. More complex on the nose and very balanced and long on the palate. Spicy, intense, fruity and long. Decant for a very long time or cellar for many more years.

Comparing this to the Graham 10yr tawny I had last night... Clear, medium amber. Nose is developed but rather reticent... less intense, alcoholic, and overly sweet than the Graham. Nose of dried bing cherry, strawberries, orange, and spice. Flavors on palate are red-fruit driven. Palate is medium (drier than most 10 year tawnies, certainly drier than Graham), medium+ acid and alcohol (better integrated than Graham which was a bit hot), medium- tannin, med body, intensity, and finish. Finish is a bit nuttier and much drier than Graham.

Overall, I found the Graham to be more interesting and complex but the Taylor more focused. I'd probably prefer the Taylor as an aperitif before a meal (on account of the dryness) but the Graham as a nightcap. At $34 vs $29 for the Graham, I think this is a bit overpriced.

A very smooth port. Not as thick as I was expecting, but extremely tasty. I don't know if it will get any better. Delicious now.

Quite good for it's level, showing ripe purple fruits, licorice and cocoa. Good grip, but very accessible. Nice cellar defender.

A bit like a (reallly really good) raisinette soaked in a smooth southern rhone where the youth has mellowed. Very young and approachable but not at all harsh. Dried fruit notes and cocoa. Easy drinking. Just nice and easy drinking port which some substance. I'm very sorry this is my last bottle.

Well I'm hurt... I found an opened bottle of this in my mother's fridge.

I'm guessing this didn't set anyone back an arm and a leg which makes it all that more impressive.

Intense earthy, raisin and fig nose; flavors of raisin, fig, berry, sweet vanilla. Hot intense finish.

Another example of why I am impressed and enamored with LBV porto.

Lovely in all respects. Some ripe but hardly oversweet red and black fruits. A Port with a nice long finish and plenty of character.

Nice but not quite as rich as I expected. Young? Alchol burns through in a way I usually don't notice in ports.

Mad scientist nose of seeds, fuel, berry, roots, and algae. Then powerful, plush, and layered, with similar characteristics, some cocoa, and a bit of pepperoni spice, finishing with oak so fresh it's like you tore open a budding branch. Not as long as I expected. So enjoyable in its springtime I wonder how it will evolve. 94-95

48 hour update: accelerating with developing blue bic ballpoint notes.

7-day update: This has definitely fanned out and gained both heft and fire. Increasing score.

This wine was a fun experience. From a bottle that looked like it came from a shipwreck - banged up, no label, spot of white paint and only the seller's assurance it was what it was. But it was delicious - hit the palate with some clean fruit, but then followed up with the kind of nutty, butterscotchy flavors you expect from a tawny. Similar blend of styles visually, with a gorgeous pink-tinged golden color with only a hint of browning.

Slight signs of seepage. This bottle was quite fruit forward, and not showing much spirit at all. Very red in complexion, with the alcohol not showing at all. Light, floral, and very gentle. I've moved more and more away from drinking Port, but this was a lot lighter than I remembered it to be (I haven't had this in years). Approachable and delicious.

Picked up a few of these in the past year when I found them up in Seattle for a song. Finally got around to opening one to give it a go. Decanted about 4 hours at time of this note, would have liked to have longer but it didn't last that long. Well balanced black fruit, moderate tannins, spearmint, and acidity. Soft textured with no protruding heat. A very approachable SQVP at this stage of its life. A moderate and consistent finish rounds out a SQVP that should develop nicely over the next 12-18 years.

Tasted after this had been opened for approximately 3 days. Nose a bit funky. Earthy, tobacco and a hint of wood. Palate still vibrant, offering balanced sweet spice and acidity. Even in an "secondary" vintage, the top producers still produced lovely wines.
