A bit thin and astringent. Not a wine we would seek out again.

Very nice brick color with thick slow legs. PnP gave nothing but tannins. Look up "closed wine" in the dictionary and you'll see a picture of this bottle just after opening. The Venturi to the rescue! Ten minutes and the fruit is beginning to show. I'm getting blackberry and granite on the nose, with black cherries, loam a bit of vanilla when the tannins softened. Nice long finish. Good balance between acidity and fruit. Try it again in a year.

Slow Ox for 60 minutes before initial smell and taste. Drank on porch with Grilled Tuna, Risotto with Porcini and Steamed Broccoli. Did not take detailed notes this time. Wine was delicious and balanced with cherry and dirt. We enjoyed it during and after dinner.

This is something really special and I wonder if you can still call this a wine, because alcohol and spices were added to give the wine its flavors. The bouquet holds the middle between medicines and an Indian spice box and perfumed soap. On the palate the same. Thyme, clove, cinnamon and cardamom as well. After the tasting I took the bottle home, but never felt like drinking it, so eventually it went down the drain. Really special stuff. No score.

After a week in France and lots of Bordeaux, it's difficult to transition to this particular Barolo. Light cherry red in color, some fruit on the nose. Relatively short, somewhat bitter finish with lots of tannin. Hopefully the tannins will smooth out with a bit more aging. I was suggesting an 85, but compromised at 87 because "the spousal unit" was pushing for an 88.

1 hr decant. The tannins present strongly but not overly assertive. Blackberry, cola, anise on the palate. QPR high for the price.

Wow, still big and powerful on opening, with tons of aromatics (mostly cherry and tar/rubber) and a slightly bricked colour. Lots of tannin. Yet the flavour profile is slightly oxidized. Excellent pairing with lamb rack, and opened up nicely over a couple hours.

Kiremit renkli, yasini belli ediyor. Burunda tatli baharatli,recelimsi-pekmezimsi aromalar oluşmuş. Olgun kırmızı meyve notlari ile bekleneni veriyor. Damakta baslarda biraz koseli tanenliydi, havalandikca güzellesti. Meyvemsilik damakta da devam ediyor. Bogurtlen, frenk uzumu, ahududu tatlari baskin. Karakterli, guclu, cok keyifli bir sarapti...

Had this over 3 nights and surprisingly showed best upon PnP on 1st night. Tart red fruits, red cherry, and earth surrounded by a bit of oak treatment. Tannic as it became more exposed to air on 1st night, which then began to soften and integrate into 3rd day and the fruit became more noticeable. Simple Nebbiolo that serves fine as a daily drinker, yet probably could use some more time to settle down. (88+)

This needs a good two hours in a decanter to open up. The nose changes from a muddy mix of subtle Ed and black fruits with an almost dank note, to high-toned bright red fruit nose with a hint of cherry cola. Good concentration of tart red cherry and raspberry, pomegranate and red plum. Medium bodied with medium plus acidity, finishes with a hint of vanilla. Overall not profound, but a good value wine.

An airborne dinner (British Airways flight 0287, London Heathrow - San Francisco): Pale white gold; very expressive nose, perfumed, pear, peach, flowers, hint of grass; light and soft palate, easy but with lovely varietal typicity and very subtle bitters; good length. Speciously attractive.

Definitely needed to breathe for awhile before drinking. Color is fairly deep purple with a little orange towards the edge of the glass. Aromas of dark cherry, blackberry and perhaps a little tobacco. Blackberry and boysenberry flavors with a nice dry finish. Drank with grilled chicken, asiago cheese bread and a fresh green salad with vinaigrette dressing. Although there were some initially harsh notes to the mouth feel of the wine, after about 40 minutes the wine integrated quickly and became quite delicious.

Popped and poured at a Tuscan restaurant. We had originally bought this as a "cooking Barolo" (for Brasato al Barolo, a PA Chairman's special). While cooking with it, it tasted good enough to buy some for drinking. Typical Nebbiolo color. Nice nose, red fruit and spice. A bit acidic out of the bottle, but smoothed out with air. Really good with the food. Probably gone from the state stores, but would buy more if we could find it.

Nose: very tight and very little smell, basically nothing. Weird. Taste: medium body, dry. Quite savory profile: unripe melon, green olive and olive oil dominate the profile. Slight sea salt/briny taste, with a hint of stone. Much better as a sipper: clean and smooth. Could work in place of a prosecco as an aperitif. Refreshing but must be served on its own (gets lost with food). 81.

Medium plum red. Damson plum skin nose. Tannins pervade the bouquet, taste and finish. But this is what I like about Barolo: the interplay of tannin, fruit and extended traditional oak puncheon aging. Made by a large coop, this is not one of the great, fine examples of the DOCG. But … it is indicative of the area, well made, and a fine example of the nebbiolo grape. All in all, a nice value at $20/btl.
