Very Adelaide Hills. The palate contributes spearmint as well to add to the mint-fest, but there are olive, currant and even raisin flavours too. Medium/full body. Palate is a bit patchy somehow, kind of medium length but doesn’t quite hang together. You need to like the style/flavour profile; it only becomes more pronounced over time. For me it’s over-ripe a bit and lacks freshness and balance. |

2/20/2014 - graemeg wrote: NR{screwcap, 13.5%} Plenty dark, plenty ripe (tastes hotter than the alcohol level indicates), but still rent with cool-climate olive and spearmint flavours. It tends to be big and clunky-tasting; there are no fine powdery tannins here. There's a big hole in the mid-palate - it defines hollow - and the finish is short/medium-length at best. Not otherwise quirky enough to overcome its shortcomings... |

11/2/2013 - graemeg wrote: NR{screwcap, 14.5%} Youthful, typical aromas of mint, red berries, soft vanilla oak. Perhaps a menthol tinge to the flavours is the only thing to hint at the cool-climate origin of this wine; it has medium-bodied weight, spicy mint flavours, and a thickish sort of medium-length finish that carries an alcoholic signature. Very youthful, sure; but is still only really a 5-year proposition. Fair, but unmemorable. |
