Well balanced charry, cherry, pinot showing some age, but with nice freshness still in place.

Good balance and structure but somewhat soft mid palate. Dark fruit with integrated oak. Pretty decent wine. Had a lot of soot like sediment as well.

Straw yellow. Interesting nose. Citrus, apricot even mandarin peel. Creamy lemon tart palate still with good acidity. Has quite a few years yet.

Gourmet Traveller Wine Single Site Pinot Noir Tasting (8 Danks street, Sydney): Aromas of coffee, cranberry compote with almost touches of rhubarb here, sweet spice and slight toast. On the palate it's fresh, fruit carries long, very, very slight stalkiness to the tannins, juicy as well…okay

Doesn't seem to be improving. A bit astringent and very angular, quite tangy. And a little lean. Has a certain refreshing aspect to it but it isn't what I am looking for in a Chardonnay and glad this was my last bottle.

A funky, gamey nose of fig and melon as unexpected as it is interesting.

The wine has great depth on the palate with ripe melon and stone fruits amply supported by spicy oak. The finish has superlatives usually reserved for Pinot with a 'peacocks' tail of savoury stone fruits that seem to continue and gain momentum over the journey. The finish has excellent persistence and focused acidity.

A vibrant red in colour, with good clarity in the glass.

The nose is tightly bound with dark plum, graphite, sandalwood and an ever so slight oak input that gives a richness that is otherwise void on the nose.

The palate has powdery tannins, taught mineral acidity with blackcurrant and plum fruit dominant with a hint of kirsh, cocoa and cool climate white pepper to finish.

This wine will continue to improve over time, as it slowly unfurls.

A medium red in colour, the nose leads with spice and raspberry before moving towards dark cherry fruit.

The palate is dense and packed full of dark berry fruits and abundant spices. In particular there is cherry and plum that combines with supple fine tannins that are complemented by focused acidity. The finish has good complexity and length with a touch of raisin fruit.

Light straw in colour, the nose is steeped in savoury nectarine fruit, the front palate shows forward acidity around which citrus characters dominate, but are contrasted by fuller melon and stone fruit characters.

The mid to back palate shows ripe fruit and will continue to develop further complexity, the finish has crisp acidity and has just enough fruit to balance, expect this wine to cellar and flourish.

2012 Tuck's Ridge Chardonnay Estate Chardonnay

Mornington Peninsula more

5/17/2014 - Patrick - winereviewer.com.au wrote: 92 points

Tuck's Ridge is a consistently fine producer of Chardonnay from Mornington, from the estate through to the Single Vineyard wines they are wonderfully structural and age worthy.

The wine is a light yellow in colour, the nose is full and aromatic with melon and peach complemented by some subtle but rich lees inputs. There is a mentality that builds across the palate with gun flint and wood spice characters providing an enjoyable mouth feel, and a great contrast to the fuller stone fruits.

The finish is long and focussed.

A very light yellow hue in the glass, the nose has developed stone fruits and the slightest hint of spicy oak.

The palate is restrained with a mineral citrus acidity and firm stone fruit flavours combining with subdued leesy characters. The wine has all the elements to be truly spectacular, now it just needs a decade in the cellar to show it's true form and promise.

2nd January, 2015 with Bud and Liz, Chris and John, Marc and Justine, Lottie and Moss (Eketahuna, New Zealand): Heavily sulfate nose is one dimensional and brings up images of burnt rubber and matchsticks. Brittle acids on the palate. The wine has length and intensity and actually worked well with food, but by itself this has limited appeal. I struggle to understand some of the extremely high published scores...

Time has helped a bit, but this is an extremely high acid, cheap burgundian style wine, where structure dominates over fruit.

Becoming an intriguing wine. Colour is not quite golden straw. Nose has banana, lime, maybe marmalade? The interesting part is the palate has quite a smokey characteristic about it - cedar chips, almost bacon actually. Not a bad thing though, adds some complexity imo. Finish is nice and long. Will revist in another 12 months.

Lovely nose: soft, delicate and complex, with notes of white fudge, mango, and snow peas. In contrast, the palate is rather green and crisp, with no hint of caramel or vanilla. Nice, if a little lean for my taste.

Light ruby in glass, translucent. Equally translucent and expressive nose of loamy earth, raspberries and strawberries, white pepper, savory boullion. Rhubarb. Palate is forward, concentrated, surprisingly sweet. More powerful than it looks and smells, almost unctious quality, whilst juicy acidity (yet more raspberries and strawberries, and hint of blueberries) keep it tall, ending on a long, sustained savory note, with pleasant earth and minty eucalypts. Great drop, fantastic value, and perfect with duck ravioli!

Consumed over 2 days. On day 1 it was quite thin, lacking length and depth. On day 2 it had put on some weight and the edges had smoothed out nicely. A good enough pinot which needs a lot of air but far from top shelf.

This was completely closed down when I first opened it -- very little on the nose, and just a touch of sour black fruit on the palate. After checking the notes here, I recapped it and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight. By the next day it had opened up with a clove and camphor nose, and raspberry, cherry, and light spicy notes on the palate. This had good balance, and it was complex and interesting. For what I paid ($32) this was a good value. If you have one of these, either decant for a few hours or let it sleep for five years.

(CNYeveLunch@Abdul's w Elaine, FS, Geoff, Ads+mom, Just+momdad, lychee) Very light red in glass, transparent, almost a rose. Quiet, almost absent nose, with light grassy strawberries. Delicate raspberries on the taste, with some sour cherries, undergirded with some wet wood, savory earth, mushrooms and forest floor - all light and delicate. Best thought of as a rather savory but precise, earthy provencal rose. Serve lightly chilled!

Lovely, vibrant pale golden colour. A lifted and pronounced nose of peaches, honeysuckle, some banana, and some subtle woody notes. Light to medium body, with medium acidity, tasting of citrus, grapefruit, apple, and a little honey, with a lengthy finish.

An excellent Pinot which has developed well. Still the traditional Pinot fruity nose but well rounded - perhaps a little too far. May have just passed its peak? Regardless, an excellent Mornington Pinot
