My sense of Vietti is that they may be moving towards a style with higher acidity than prior and more exotic / tropical fruit tones than before. I noticed this nearly across the board in '19 - in particular, the Barbaresco or Monvigliero are the two best examples of it that year. The '20 Castiglione continues the trend. I'm not aware of / sure if anything has actually changed in the winemaking, but this is how the wines have come across to me. |

Smelled a bit red fruited with some woody character, but tasting it the sour black cherries (think marasca) take over, with some additional earthy and leathery notes. Nice food-friendly Barbera acidic bite that fans out into mouth-filling medium body, medium-minus tannin, and finishes medium back on the cherries. |

Fine and dry tannins, the fruit is just right, cranberries, red cherries, tobacco, leather and roses. Wonderful minerality, and a long finish. Will last for many more years. |

Red fruit nose, prior note of camphor not present after six hours open. The fruit is more like a mix of baked cherry on the front of the mouth but then raspberry on the mid and back palate after 24 hours open but kept refrigerated overnight. The tannins are mellow now and anise notes are present and the finish is a subtle 30 seconds long. Just lovely nebbiolo fruit! The wine seems fully mature but probably has a lot more life left in it. |

Notes of red fruits on the palate, with a hint blueberries, dried rose petals and a medium finish with mushrooms, black tea. The tannins are still there, a little grippy.
