Purchased on release and perfectly stored. Great fill level and great condition on the cork. Deep golden color. Definitely mature, with the fruits taking on a more aged, baked quality, but the acids were great and the minerality was strong. Very powerful Riesling, which are words that I don't necessarily think belong together. Stone fruit, gasoline and white flowers on the nose. Fresh and crisp on the palate, with mouth-coating flavors of ripe lemon, ending with a very long and zesty finish. Nectarine and waxy yellow fruits, a bit of stone under a broad base. This doesn't seem like a great vintage for this wine (the highs are VERY high) but it was very good and not flabby. Clearly not a perfect bottle. Advanced nose with some burnt sugar, spices, botrytis. I had the chance to taste the remainder in parallel with the 1995 and after a day its is younger, fresher and with greater tension and clarity as the 1995. The length is unbelievable now! Very dense and creamy texture, mouth-coating without cloying. On day one around 92, day two more 95. Advanced nose, very smoky and dense, some botrytis and spices. Wine is past peak, but with such an enormous density, complexity and depth that it is still amazing! Smoky notes, ripe fruit, still some grapefruit, botrytis, very mineral, power, pressure, great length. It still benefits highly from air in the glass. Likes this wine: 93 points Oh, open for 5 days (vacuum) and such a star. I bought this wine at a restaurant in Zürich, we could not empty it so I kept it in my fridge. Good decision, now it is has changed - and really not to the negative side 👍👍 N. Balanced, green, flowers and herbs, mineral, crunchy, a little bit Veltliner-like (freshness, white pepper) but not in a negative way T. Smashy but good acid, nice spicy note, minerals, balanced; really good fruity notes, exotic, fresh and dryed…complex with long but alcoholic aftermath. All indicators point to longevity 🤗 Warning: the wine is more a loner, combining with food is tricky, I just had some risotto with it, pulls it down… 1 person found this helpful, do you?
