Bay leaf, pencil shavings, dried herbs, bright cabernet fruit. Plush, ripe, yum. Very good. Smells and tastes of region and variety. Sweet fruit, red and black. Soft tannin. Delicious and highly drinkable. Drink now or hold 5+ (92 Very good wine)

Dark fruit, aniseed/iquorice... really lovely but so young it's very difficult to enjoy. I imagine this will be a fantastic wine in 3-5 years.

Day 3 and this wine is still improving. Honestly, stock up at $25/btl. This is going to be amazing. Can't wait to try the other Woodlands wines.

{screwcap, 13.5%} Dark ruby. Very margaret River nose of black olives, dark currants, asparagus even, and some high-yield mint. The palate is pretty loose-knit, with low level, faintly gritty tannins, minimal oak, some plummy merlot fruit to not-quite offset the darkish green cabernet flavours, and a medium-bodied weight culminating in a shortish, competent, but unmemorable finish. It's the bottom level red in Woodlands' hierarchy, but it's decent enough, dusty and not sweet.

This purpled rimmed near opaque core wine gives up pencil shavings, blackcurrant, blueberries, cherries, roses, wet earth cafe au lait chocolate and olives. It is elegant and full bodied with good length. Reminds of a classed growth Bordeaux. Poured into Riedel Bordeaux glasses at 16 degrees C. Needs at least 1 hour in the decanter.

Bright crimson. Fragrant cedar and sweet cassis with tones of dried herbs. Rich and velvety, the palate is very forward showing vibrant cassis and fresh acidity underpinned by fine, beautifully polished tannins. Finishes long with subtle hints of liquorice

Possibly at an intermediate stage in development, a little confused. Would expect further complexity in the future. Good length.

Drank three bottles over dinner. Good 2+ hour decant. This wine us drinking very well now, it is quite well balanced and there is plenty of interest on the palate with nice fruit. I'd imagine if drunk blind you would pick the wine as French. Very happy I have more in the cellar as this will hold well.

Drunk over 3 days. Started out quite lean, showing more sour edged fruit with bramble and leaf flavours. The wine gained weight and depth over the following 2-3 hours and opened up nicely with cassis, cherry and dusty wood tones balancing the wine. Acidity was bright and well integrated and tannins were silky and playing a supporting role. The wine showed best on the second day suggesting a good 5-7 years of life ahead of it. While this will continue to evolve, I'm not sure it will actually improve that much. I'd err towards drinking now with a 2-3 hour decant.

Unfortunately opened up bottle without the benefit of a decant. Too closed up for my tastes. Fortunately I left some in the bottle for the second night and it provided a hint of what this wine can become. It will be another 5 years before I go for my next bottle.

10 year Tasting of 2005 Vintage (Bronte, Sydney): deep rich red colour.
rich red berries and tobacco leaf complexity.
very youthful profile although has softened. gorgeous red berries, classic margaret river, with some violets, cedar and tobacco leaf. a Bordeaux comparison is quite fair. finish is smooth and long, with soft very fine tannins. delicious.

Pretty Cab/Merlot/Malbec blend but disappointing compared to my memories of the 2007. Less herbal, more dilute. Attractive flavour but simple and soft. No tannin to speak of.

Sealed with screw cap. 13.5% (but then Woodlands say this for every vintage, so not sure how reliable this is).

A brightly hued wine at the moment, red moving to purple. Looks young, but not overly young. The nose is dry and spicy fruit. The palate is young ripe cassis, with very savoury drying tannin. It really fills the width of the mouth, with a medium to long finish that leave you smacking your tongue. It's savoury and chewy but in a really good way. It certainly needs some time down, but everything is delicately balanced for what i think is going to be a very impressive wine. Hold for as long as possible.

This comes across as a surprising big wine, but has an elegant twist to it. Quite old world in style, it does have enough fruit to reveal itself as a new world wine. Very smooth with plenty of youthful dark fruit. With a couple of hours decant this is drinking quite well now, but I am sure few more years of patience will improve it even more. A very good "Margaret" from Woodlands and if you do have some of this in your cellar, pat yourself on the back!

Fabulous deep yellow colour. Beautifully balanced chardonnay, evolving without any sign of oxidation. Complexity on the palate, beautifully balanced. A reasonably long life ahead. (Why on earth can't most white Burgundy do this any more....?)

This wine's vintage is the same year my eldest some was born so I bought several cases. I have followed it over several years and it still looks and tastes young. My son had his seventh birthday today and he smelt the wine (not allowed to sip). "Cherries and olive oil" he said.
Mauve semi opaque body. Cherry liqueur. Black currant, blueberries, cafe au lait wet earth and olives. It is close to full bodied and relatively elegant. It is Margaret River in character but also St Estephe. Screw top. Decantered one hour. Riedel glasses. Will he be enjoying this when he is 30?

Immediately appealing. Fragrant, with black and purple fruits. The palate is terrific. Mid weight and juicy, it carries complexities already - earthy, cedar notes, olives, saline. So well balanced. Will be interesting to follow this wine over the next decade and more.

{screwcap, 13.5%, A$23} Pale lemon-yellow with a flash of green. Modern, clean youthful nose; a touch of grilled nuts with underlying grapefruit. The palate is reasonably rich, with sandalwood oak and grapefruit flavours, along with stones and a hint of peach. Dry, only mildly oaky, but it doesn't great depth of flavour nor an especially long finish. About medium-bodied. Given the fairly unobtrusive acid, a bit of a chill helps, and I wouldn't be cellaring it long. But, a decent chardonnay, even if the price is perhaps a bit steep for what you get.

Mauve edged. Unintergrated and young. Black olives, blackcurrant ,blackcherries bordering on maraschino. It displays a wet earth character which I associated with Margaret River. There are also seashells and chocolate. Young and vibrant with lots of tannin but there is an underlying elegance. Brilliant wine.
