Full body with good fruit. Bold style, dry, not jammy for a Barossa and lingering sour cherry finish.

Very rich, juicy and appealing for its mouth-watering plum and raspberry fruit. Shows excellent depth, concentration and length, without the excessive sweetness often found in Barossa Valley Shiraz. Not particularly complex, but extremely satisfying and delicious. A terrific bargain as well at around $12.

Quite a young wine, still a bit tannic for me. Isn't going to blow the world but will turn into quite a little wine for price point in a few years. Will try again in 2017.

Deep red , lighter towards the rim in colour, the nose shows black and red fruits with sweet cedary oak.

The palate is ripe and rounded with blackcurrant, cinnamon spice and chocolatey oak giving a lush mouth feel.

The length is good with fine tannins and a continuation of the dense dark fruits and spices seen on the palate.

Ripe blackberry and violets on the nose with savoury oak inputs.

The palate is juicy with youthful plum and dark cherry, tannins are fine with gentle spice and licorice lingering on the finish.

Drank over two days. Dark ruby red colour. First day nose typical fruit, dark berry of aussie shiraz that developed the next day to wonderful secondary notes of leather, cassis and plum. On the palate velvety smooth plum jam, leather, and chocolate. Elegant wine with well integrated smooth tannins. Finish is nice but tapers off quickly and wish it lasted longer. Excellent QPR that is in its prime now but should hold for a couple more years.

Zonte's Footstep Lake Doctor 2010 Shiraz (SRP $24): Deep ruby in color, this Shiraz exhibits aromas and flavors of ripe blueberries, blackberries, sweet fruitcake, a touch of bittersweet chocolate, and an underlying underbrush component. In the mouth, it’s smooth and round with a broad, velvet-like texture, understated acidity, and melted tannins. There’s a nice savory lift on the finish, which I’ll attribute to the 5% splash of Viognier. Overall, this is a pleasing, under $20 Shiraz from ‘Down Under ' for everyday drinking. It’s nice on its own and will pair well with foods like a meaty pizza, gourmet burgers, or Asian-glazed short ribs. For the price, this satisfying bottle may well be just what the doctor ordered! Region: Fleurieu Peninsula, Australia. (Other info: ABV 14%, screw cap enclosure).

Decanted for 2 hours. Dark ruby opaque colour with red rim. Rather simple on the nose of typical Aussie shiraz. Eucalyptus, chocolate and jammy dark fruit. Almost syrupy texture with well integrated silky tannins. Overall reasonable and smooth to drink but nothing special, ready to drink.

I love it. Beautiful maroon color with transparency at the periphery. Most interesting nose. Distinctly Barossa with some Napa Cab characteristics without the chewiness. Big ripe red fruit, spice, vanilla, cedar. Great mouth feel, and medium bodied for a shiraz. Palate shows chocolate, vanilla, tobacco; not nearly as fruity as the nose, but well balanced. Long even finish. Excellent value. at $12 I should've gotten an entire case or two.

A gamey, blackfruit quality on the nose. More medium bodied and softer than I would’ve expected from a shiraz. Blueberry and blackfruit upfront with cherry and stone on the back. Round and easily accessible at this stage. Light tannins on the finish, not drying and does add some length. Overall, not a huge wine, but quite nice and very good QPR. Drinking quite well now and won’t improve greatly with age.

Mass market shiraz. Plenty of fruit (hard not to in an Oz Shiraz) but a bit rustic, simple, and short on body. Fine for what it is, about what you'd expect at the price point. 86-87 pts

A tale of two wines. I popped a bottle about 10PM. Took a sip. Did not like it. I continued to try it. The palate and nose were very, very, floral-y (dried rose?) and sparkled with minerality/wet stone. It did not taste like an Oz Shiraz, but more like a cool climate Northern Cali Syrah with some Viognier added. Bright red fruit. It was thin and light in the mouth.

Fast forward 2-1/2 hours. Poured a second glass. It's a different wine. Still a lot of floral notes in the nose along with some minerality/wet stone, but the palate is bigger, bolder, heavier, darker.

Not quite the flavor profile I wanted in an Oz Shiraz, but still, a nice wine.
