Floral / red fruit / soil on the nose. Mostly California in the mouth: red fruit giving way to pinot candy, with a good amount of acidity and moderate tannin. Finishes fairly long. Interesting for such a cool year how CA still manages to be CA... place over vintage. Video we found showing the Perli vineyard: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=136432946009

This time, we finished this soon after opening. This was the best of the three bottles we've tried. Aromatic nose with floral and citrus notes and hints of sour apples. Good acidity, but something a little buttery on the midpalate. A hint of a burn on the finish, but very good.

My wife opened this a couple of days ago, and I didn't get to try it until yesterday. I pulled it out of the fridge around noon and had a couple of glasses around 10pm, so it had plenty of time to get back to room temperature. This time it was almost nothing like the last bottle. This time it reminded me much more of an RRV pinot: very fruit forward, lots of dark fruits, and very juicy with a hint of tannin on the finish. In other words, my notes are completely different from last time... Thoroughly enjoyable.

Pinot Days 2014 (Navy Pier - Chicago, IL): Killer wine. I absolutely adored these bottlings. So pungent. Super Russian River qualities.
Pepper, spice, fruit and lots of earth with wet moss up front. Lovely wines from a quality Pinot producer. Highly recommended.

Red fruit nose. Cherries in the mouth, fading quickly though through graham cracker and subtle earthy notes, long finish with new nuances coming out on subsequent sips. This is really nice, old world-esque for a CA pinot.

Red fruit nose. Red fruit and minerality in the mouth, fading towards earthiness and then a good shot of toffee towards the finish. Fairly long. More feminine than the Sonoma County, like this one a little better.

Red fruit and earth on the nose. All fruit in the mouth, lingering and fading finally into some earthiness. 'Pinot candy' there, this is def CA pinot. Funny seeing how 2011 was such a cool year and yet still the CA pinots exhibit a ton of California-ness, for what that's worth.

A pretty good Russian River valley pinot. Fairly fruit forward and pretty easy drinking, definitely enjoyable, but not particularly complex. Popped and poured..there was a hint of mold on the nose to start. This blew off with some time, and left some dark berries, but not too much going on. This was deep red in color, solidly medium bodied, and there was a bit of tannin on the finish.

This took about an hour to really open up. At the beginning, I felt there was a little acid missing on the attack, and it seemed slightly one-dimensional, but this was really enjoyable after a while. A tiny bit of funk when it opened, this blew off to reveal some really nice bright red fruits. Lots of sour-cherries, some hints of mint and maybe a tiny bit of spice. This gained some weight with time, there are some darker fruits on the mid palate and peppery notes on the finish. No real tannin, but still very nice. This is drinking very well right now, and I'm not sure it's structured to age.

Bought this in 2011 @ the Healdsburg tasting room & put away in my cellar. At the time, Mendocino Ridge was much of the talk in CA Pinot. My bottle produced a clear garnet color with a cream soda & sour cherry nose. On the palate, I found sour cherry with some black olive & cola flavors with plenty of legs, over 30 seconds. The wine was very inviting when I opened it but it closed down after about 30 minutes. It can easily go 5 more years. It had some bitterness.

Dry well. Substitute chaulkiness of Riesling with citric acidity and you have this. Personally not a fan when looking for a sweeter side of this varietal.
