Based upon other sources, it is a blend of Aglianico – Piedirosso. This produces a very dark (gloomy is the producer notes) and mineral laced wine. It takes quite a while for this wine to mature and become drinkable. The end result is a wine with a noticeable dark red and black fruit character that has nice mouthfeel. 3/8/2024 - lvjohn Likes this wine: 94 pointsThis wine needs lots of patience. I pulled the cork (intact) and decanted the bottle. There were lots of lees to filter out! The initial bouquet was of sweet Grenache red fruit. I sipped the initial pour and all seemed fine. Late that evening the bottle tasted of alcohol and little else. After another hour, it's really glory started to shine through. This was pretty surprising since we've had it in our cellar since 2010. The elements of a classic CdP are there and then some. The mouthfeel was great as was the medium length aftertaste. I thought I would find signs of decline, but my previous notes would indicate it's still going strong. |

We’ve enjoyed these wines so much over the years, but they grew too expensive with other wines that compete better at their prices. The Finn competes well regardless of price. It is absolutely delicious with red and dark red fruits. Great purity and mouthfeel. Terrific nose and beautiful aftertaste. |

Great depth and rich mouthfeel that one does not find in a CA chardonnay very often. Tastes of citrus, tropical fruits, and a slight hint of wood. We liked it so much that we drank the entire bottle in one evening! There is no hint of this wine being too old or too tired. |
