Decanted over an hour. Delicious, but still a bit tannic, closed. This was our last bottle of 2004 which is a shame since this vintage should continue improving.

Needed time to calm down after opening. Very tannic and bret. After a while it calmed down a bit, but still not totally resolved. Medium body and flavors, and enjoyable. But I expected more from this bottle.

First Wednesday Wine Group (Coral Gables, Fl.): Another over the top fruit bomb from Orin Swift. He definitely knows the recipe for big and bold combined with balanced tannins. A huge crowd pleaser, but not for me. (D loved this wine)

Beautiful. Great nose of mature red fruits, floral and sweet earth. Deep concentrated flavors of dark cherries, blue fruits, earth and cedar. Soft silky tannins complement the flavors well. It doesn't get better than this.

I purchased a case of this wine in early 2015. We enjoyed thoroughly in prior years. The bottle needed severe decanting though; it was loaded with sentiment and I used cheese cloth to double decant. After decanting this was a really nice wine. Deep, luscious flavors of dark berries and earth with silky tannins. A touch of acidity seems to signal that we should drink everything by the end of 2015.

Bright cherries, floral, earth, acidity. Very good, but I'll give it another 6 months at least, to soften, mature and blend. Great QPR at $18 (Doris really likes this wine)

Six months since we last tasted this NV wine, at time of purchase. The evolution was stunning. But first, a disclaimer: you must like apple pie. The nose was pure apple pie with cloves and nutmeg. When we tasted the wine it exploded with flavors of Granny Smith apples, apple pie, spices and a touch of smoke. The wine was sweet as expected but its great attribute is that it retained a level of acidity that kept it well balanced. No flabbiness for this wine. Delicious. Definitely worth buying and holding.

2010 Brittan Vineyards Pinot Noir Basalt Block

We chose this wine to accompany appetizers of chicken wings and filo wrapped spicy cheese. Brittan’s pinots tend to be deep and concentrated with a bit of tartness when they are young. This one was right on point and accompanied the appetizers perfectly.

Bright, fresh nose of cherries and herbs. Forward flavors of cherries and strawberries with minerals and some earthy bramble. Wow. Love their wines! Lingering finish.

The 2007 CdP’s have been drinking fabulously. This one was no exception. Nose of red and dark fruits, a touch of earth. Deep, concentrated layers. Mature dark fruits, earth, leather. Silky, fine tannins complete the perfecta. Delicious.

Popped and poured. Heavy funk, forest floor and oak overwhelmed the fruit at first. But with an hour of air this wine became an amazing experience. Deep, complex layers, strong character and an amazingly long finish. Wonderful structure and balance. Mature fruits, silky and elegant tannins. We tasted black pepper, red fruits, earth, minerals, licorice, with medium acidity and tannins. LONG finish. A powerful, full, wonderful wine. (D enjoyed but liked 07 Cristia Renaissance more)
