Lime, pear, apple, mandarin. Slatey mineral, lots of acid. Has a juiciness about it rather than riesling purity.

Blueberry, cherry, white pepper, peanuts, spice. Balance, freshness, length. Doubtless lots more going on, but the wife and I smashed through this bottle faster than any other in memory, drinking not thinking. Wasn't in that mood when I opened the bottle, but the wine pretty much dictated that approach. Fabulous to drink.

Not the same as I remember from almost a year ago. Still very good, but different, more savoury.

Blackcurrant and blackberry, blackberry bush leafiness too. But not in any way under ripe. Core of sweetness but overlayed by savoury. Olives. Dusty tannin. Fresh. Well balanced. Nice surprise given the reputation of the vintage.

500ml used in a superb Coq au Riesling. Might try a glass tomorrow, tonight I'm getting too much enjoyment out of 2005 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardy to want any. Night 2: Bottle not in fridge, wife polished it off, dammit!

Glowing greeny gold in the glass. Rich, complex, powerful, looooong. I am no good with chardy flavour descriptors, so will leave those to others. But I know what I like. This. Needs a decant to be fully enjoyed now, years ahead of it. Really only hitting its stride after the bottle has been open five hours. 94 or 95. Sadly, the last of my 3 bottles.

The most smashable red I have tasted in the past couple of years. But more than simply smashable. Wonderfully ripe blueberry, other assorted blue and red fruits, touches of lightly toasted nuts, leatherwood honey, cream. And structure. Gritty fleshy tannin. Fresh acidity. Length. My first Woods Crampton, gotta try more of the range now, and drink more of this for sure.

Screw cap bottle. Decanted and then enjoyed over six hours. After one hour the dominant element was not quite ripe raspberry, also cherry, plum, pepper, florals. Elegant. Super super fine tannin. Perfectly balanced. Hour after hour this built in presence and power and intensity and length, shifting to become more savoury. My final glass smells and tastes wonderfully of meat juices, liquorice, pepper, cigar box, baking spices, sweet core of fruit in the background. Moral of the story is, if you are waiting to drink a bottle of this, it shows as an outstanding wine right now if given a lot of air, but geez I'd be tempted to wait and wait, as this is on the way to becoming something very special.

First night: Raspberry, cranberry, whiff of violets. Juicy, fleshy. Tannins between powdery and grainy. Touch of sourness. Maybe not sourness but somehow not quite balanced. Otherwise a very good to excellent wine. Came back to bottle after two nights in fridge, much improved balance. Bumped up a point and could agree with an even higher rating.

A pleasure and privilege to drink this 10 years +1 day after my 2005 wedding. Black fruits, pepper. Undertones of leather, old wood, coffee, rust. Smooth, balanced, tannin envelops the tongue on the finish. Drank from a 375 bottle after decanting for an hour. I wish the bottle had been a magnum, and wish I had another for a few years time!

Texture and weight and complexity and pretty good length. Not sure about scent and flavour descriptors, but as a memory jogger for my own benefit, sort of a cross between Viognier and marsanne. Not exactly smashable, more of an intriguing beast.

Hitting its stride. Yum. Plummy, berried, peppery, balanced goodness. Leather and savoury elements peeking through. Excellent length. Will still be going strong for another decade and beyond, but irresistible now. Left a large glass worth of wine in the bottle and tried again on night 2, not in very good shape, for what it's worth... did make me question whether there is indeed another decade left in this wine. I intend to find out, have 3 left.

Curranty, dark berried goodness. Olives and bay leaf. Dusty. Tannic and raw on first night but last 1/3 of bottle smooth, balanced, and gorgeous after 2 nights in fridge. Moderate length the only thing holding this back from higher points. If this is how good the budget 2012 Margaret River cabs are, that vintage must be an absolute screamer. Looking forward to trying some of the Big Boys.

A perfectly fine Riesling lite drink, though dunno if that term makes sense to anyone but me. Probably better than that but I'm not in the mood for analysis. This was my "40 degree day, got a thirst for riesling but don't want to waste a good bottle" bottle, and with summer finished tomorrow and no 40 degree days occurring, time to get it down my neck.
