Medium garnet color. Earthy cherry nose. Rich, forward but pure red cherry Pinot fruit; earthy and spicy, this is well made and not over the top like many modern California Pinots. Drink now - 2018.

Consistently good year to year, even in 2011. Full bodied and rich, if a little less ripe, but well made and a good value.

Dark purple color. Oak and spice prominent on nose. Rich blackberry and cherry fruit, full bodied; fennel and spicebox. Big, forward but well balanced, with 70% Merlot and 30% Cab Franc, I would be hard pressed to identify this as a Merlot dominant blend. 14.9% abv. Drinking well now but should drink well in the next 5-10 years as well.

Straightforward and balanced, but not particularly complex or compelling. With Anderson Conn Valley, I'd rather put my money toward their Reserve Cab, Eloge or Right Bank offerings.

Dark crimson color. Nose is reticent; scent a little heavy on the alcohol, but it fortunately drank fine. Rich and somewhat forward, the 70% Merlot obviously predominates, but is has power / acid / tannins that counter the typical softness of merlot. Pleasantly earthy. Drinking well now (some 2005 St Emilon's we sampled that same night clearly needed more cellar time). 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Malbec.

In open decanter for about 30 minutes; then double decanted back to bottle for about 7 hours. Dark purple. Characteristic Bordeaux nose of iron, with black currant, forest soil and faint floral nose. Mostly black fruits (plum, blackberry some cherry) that were slightly richer and riper than I was expecting (in a good way), with tobacco, leather and moderate oak. One can sense that this wine has a lot of power in reserve with components that will be unleashed with more time, but it was quite approachable and delicious for a wine that has not quite entered its optimal drinking window.

Quite a bit of sediment coating the bottle. Dark purple. No bricking. Still surprising sweet and lush; almost port like Moderate oak is well integrated. Tasty and intresting, but I enjoy would enjoy this more as a stand alone wine (or dessert wine) as I opposed to smething that would pair well with food.

This wine deserves more fans. As noted previously, it has a dark purple color and "meaty flavor, like grilled strip sreak jus with a crushed tomato acid element." I know that sounds weird, but it is good. It has a great the earthy / forest soil element. It demands and deserves your attention. Good value.

2010 Belle Glos Pinot Noir Taylor Lane Vineyard

Sonoma Coast more

1/3/2015 - StainedGlass wrote: 88 points

Like other Belle Glos pinots, this is a PN for folks who prefer big California cabs to lighter bodied pinot noirs (not that there is anything wrong with that). Unlike most pinots, it is dark purple in the glass and looks more like a syrah or cab than a thin skinned pinot. Same with the nose: it has a distinct cherry nose but a black fruit syrah nose. A bit jammy with heavy oak. While it is not a pure expression of PN, it is a good modern wine with wide appeal, and appreciated by all who tasted it.

I'm a fan of Justin's Tempranillo, and I had this vintage earlier in 2014, but this bottle had fruit that was fading so that the oak dominated. Dark garnet color, it has an earthy touch. I guess it could be entering a dumb phase, but I would be inclined to drink it sooner rather than later. I suspect it made to be drunk at a younger age.

Same comments as my 9/13 tasting note, a modern fruit forward style, but I like it. I find it more earthy and compelling than a 2009 Cuvée Anonyme, which I tasted at the same time, it is made in a similar style.
