Due to possibly poor storage by the vendor, this bottle matures faster than normal. My bottle is clearly over the hill, lost part of its strength and became full cream butter. Color is very golden like. Looking forward to trying better stored of this wine.

This is a counter market preference winery. Unlike other SA wines, this wine is fair elegant. Silky finesse. It does not gel your palate. Color is ruby red with a good scent of cinnamon. Its like listening to soft opera. Finish is medium. It is a very feminine Bordeaux Blend. Took 3+ hours to open up fully.

It took around 30 mins to show its real character. Lovely wine. Zesty lemon with hint of passion fruit in taste. The long it breaths, the longer is the aftertaste, with a good balance of spice. The balance is good, particularly with the acidity. I this wine has reached it prime and start to run downhill pretty soon.

It resembles Mumm. The image is close but weaker in every aspect. Can't complain from the selling price. Great party wine.

2006 Domaine Philippe Charlopin-Parizot Marsannay Les Echezots

Pinot Noir more

1/26/2014 - dexterng wrote: 87 points

This wine has evolved into something totally different in a bit over 3 years time. It now has Charlopin Parizot signature in it. It has become darker, richer and deeper. Very nice opening, improved middle but still weak in finishing. However it matched perfectly with the grilled sausages that we are having. Bottle breathed for about an hour.

After reading the reviews and the reputaton of the winery, I must confess that I suspected this bottled was flawed. Very nice opening of strawberry jam, cinnamon and spice. However, the entire wine disappear from the middle. A sad ending. Ihave a more bottle and I hope it is better.

I try very hard to find the short comings of this wine: Price is great, body is full and wonderful, aroma is good in fruit, some flower, taste is well balanced but not as over powered as Aussie Shiraz, good medium finishing. If I have to be picky it the wine is slightly less complex than I want and the finish is not as long as I wish for. Nevertheless, very enjoyable!

The dissapointment of the year. The wine has a bit of every standard elements but all seems to have their own mind. After 1 hour of breathing the aroma is rich with blackberries. The taste though, is pretty one dimension, and virtually no finish. Body is medium.

My bottle is peaking now. Very nice legs. Aroma is a typical Napa Cab with blackcurrent and cinnamons. Body is full with nice medium finish. I find this wine, like other Cali Cab, is on the sweet side.

11/4/2013 - dexterng wrote: 88 points

This is a rising star! Gimblett Gravels is indeed fantastic! Feels like a top notch Western Australian Bordeaux Blend! Perfect balance of Cab and Merlot with impressive blackberries all along. Some cinnamon too. As usual the vines are probably a little bit young thus there isnt too much depth. However it is already impressive given the price. I would seriously pay attention to this wine starting from 2013 while the vines are older. A easy 90+ for present vintages I suspect.

The color shows signs of youth. Aroma is rich in musk, some cinnamon and quit powerful. Very nice red fruit in the beginning but taste and water separates right after, which stayed shortly in the front tip of the tongue. A sad ending. I have 2 bottles left and will leave out for a couple years to see how it develops into.

This wine is till way too young to consume. It was still pretty much fruit driven on day 1. On day 3 the secondary emerges and it was pretty enjoyable. Cinnamon for example, appears along with some blackcurrents. Some oak too. Lots of air if you want to drink now.

A very different kind of CdP. Evidence of youth with rose like red. Body is thin to medium. After a few hours of bottle breathing, a very nice perfume of flowerly emerges. The taste is gentle with little bit of spice and sweetness at the end. Finishing is ok. A very feminine CdP which I never experienced before. I think it needs 2+ years to peak, however I think this wine is not designed to cellar like Beaucastel's. Probably 2 to 3 more points in 2 years time.

Its not fair to rate it now as I suspect this bottle is suffering from travel shock. Fairly right blank characteristics. However even after a few hours of breathing the wine seems to be dudded. Good aromas of white flowers and some plum in taste. It does not have much middle or finish. Waterly to say the least. Its a sample for a friendly supplier and I am not sure I would order.

10/14/2013 - dexterng wrote: 84 points

I did not put this bottle in the cellar thus it may age faster than it should be. Perhaps due to the exceptional vintage, it was pretty decent. Medium body with blackberries and strawberries in the taste and some leather and cinamon in the nose. Pretty solid middle with some spice but with virtually no after taste. it went well with smoke salmon. I had weaker vintages and that was disappointing. 09 is acceptable.

Contrary to my fellow drinkers, I like this wine. Very easy going but with some character and structure. It does not have extensive finishing which I would rather not to see in a rose but with good taste of green apple and hint of honey. Very refreshing and a great aperitif.
