Dark magenta/ruby in colour. Initially closed, taking a couple of hours to open up. Once it did, it revealed its great potential. Cherry, cranberry and some pomegranate, a touch of spice, some woody tones and a nice rocky line of minerality. Tight with good focus, but really drinkable with air. Good length, acidity and balance. Polished with slightly dusty tannins. I'm a big fan of the cote du py cuvée and this is a lovely vintage.

Magnum drunk from the list at The European. Really enjoyable. Quite bright and lively, with ripe citrus and apple. The palate is quite rich for the level and there is a nice chalky minerality here. Good length. Excellent QPR. Drinking well now.

Pretty similar to previous bottle. Drunk over two days. Better on the second. Light gold. Grilled peach, white nectarine, twist of yuzu, and a touch of oak. Some nuttiness too. Lees stirring makes this rich and voluptuous, but the acidity keeps everything in check. Rich and round. Should easily hold for another 5-8 years but drinking well now.

No formal note taken. Drunk over three days. Cloudy in the glass with some solid matter floating around - clearly not filtered. Lots of bright, slightly funky, cherry fruit with minerals and florals. A bit of VA gave the wine some treble notes which made it a touch disjointed at this stage. Does detract for me though. In fact it's a pretty wine that I like quite a bit.

Drunk from a 375ml bottle at Vue de Monde. Interestingly the somm said they've had this wine for 3 months now in a few different formats and their spoilage rate has been about 50%!! What better place to take a punt on a bottle then?! Luckily the wine gods were smiling on us as this was fresh and vibrant. Lemon yellow in the glass. Quite austere and a little serious at the moment. Still really enjoyable though. Citrus dominates, but there are some floral notes of honeysuckle that develop over the first 20 minutes. Lots of stoney, chalky minerals. There is really good precision and drive on the palate, as well as the faintest hint of sweetness that comes through (residual sugar?). Good intensity and length. A full bodied white. Clearly a young wine that could do with a long sleep in a cold cellar... Assuming it manages to avoid tca and/or oxidisation.

Drunk after a 30 minute airing straight from a 14 degree Celsius cellar. Perfect temp. Light gold in the glass. Lemon zest, lemon curd, some orchard fruit, vanilla and hazelnut. There's a nutty creaminess to the palate that is balanced by some zest, minerals and good acidity. Drinking really well at the moment but has the stuffing to last another 10 years. Hard to put down.

Slow ox'ed for 3 hours. Black and red fruit, some smoky meat, pepper, bramble and a touch of sandlewood (oak?). A little more rustic and burly than I recall the previous bottles in the case being. Nevertheless there is good balance and length - not a tarted up modern Cote Rotie!

Slow ox for 3 hours before drinking. Cherries, red fruit, wet stones, earth, violets. Plenty of focus, precision and bright crunchy tones suggesting 2007. Good concentration and intensity. A little tighter on the finish than the previous bottle a month or two ago with more prominent, powdery tannins. Looking good, but this showing indicates improvement with some cellar time.

Red fruit here - cherry and cranberry. Some pepper and smoke as well as some meaty notes too. Good acidity and resolving tannins but a little rustic. Not quite the depth of the 2006, but streets ahead of the Delas Cote Rotie from 2007. Solid. Drink now with a 2 hour airing or hold for up to 5 years.

Excellent QPR. Crunchy, racy acidity with lots of lemon and an almost saline minerality. There was a roundness on the palate that balanced the acidity well. A moderately long, precise finish. Drunk at cellar temperature after a 3 hour slow ox.

The best Bourgogne I can remember tasting. Apparently it's from a parcel in Vosne-Romanee (Les Lutinieres) that was classified as villages until 1936. Dark ruby in the glass. A touch cloudy (nothing is fined or filtered at the domaine). Mostly showing its structure for the first hour, with sour cherry dominated by the wine's acidity. With about an hour or so of air, however, this really sprung to life, with some sweeter toned red berries and darker cherries rounding out the wine. The acids were better integrated and there were some slightly dusty tannins on the crystalline finish. Really fresh and pure. Very elegant, but with amazing concentration, intensity and silky roundness for the level. I'd buy more if I could find it!

Opened 2 hours before drinking. Not decanted. This Bachelet CdN Villages has much more class and elegance than is typical for this level and is punching well above its weight. The fruit is bright and fresh, with dark cherry, cherry pit and red berries intertwined with violets, spices and twigs. Light on the palate but good intensity and concentration for the appellation. Quite refined. Not tons of complexity here, but very tasty. Drinking well now but should hold nicely for another 8-12 years.

Opened 8 hours before drinking. This proved to be another lovely Gonon St Joseph. Deep purple. Dark berries, earthiness, black olives, dried herbs, and smoked meat. Excellent intensity and concentration without being over done at all. Good line and length and a fair degree of roundness. Not overly tight. There is ample tannic structure (powdery) here that is well enveloped the wine. If I was a gambling man, I'd say this will hit its straps in 10-15 years.

A lovely Saint Aubin. Stoney citrus flavours are balanced by some rounder orchard fruits and a lick of spice and oak. Excellent line and precision on the palate and good length. While drinking well now it's perhaps a little tight and could do with some air or a bit of a sleep in the cellar. A great vintage.

A wine that challenges the established notion of rose champagne. A bit Lambrusco, a bit Bourgogne rouge and a bit rose champagne. Redder than a typical rose, with plenty of sour-tinged red berries on the nose and palate and a fine minerally spine. Lots of high tones here which are tempered by a fine bead. Tannins are quite resolved. Fine focus and length. Very unique.

Pretty average. Below par for the appellation. Cork was perfect and it looked quite youthful in the glass, but unfortunately it tasted both underripe and overripe, with the wine out of balance. Plum, mushroom and leather were joined by citrus, green tobacco and green twigs. A little spicy too, but disjointed. Acids were a bit shrill and tannins very faint. Not sure if it's going through a closed phase, but I doubt this will blossom into anything special. Meh. Disappointing.

The most complete wine of the line up. This combines the minerality of Les Mitan and generosity of Clos du Château des Ducs and adds some zesty tones and increases the intensity and length. Beautiful balance. Fine, lacy tannins. This will age for a long time.

Tasted at the domaine. Richer than the aligote, which of course is not surprising. There are some citrus notes here, but they are secondary to the buttery, nutty, honeysuckle richness. There is ample acidity and minerality here though, which gives precision to the wine.
