Couldn't resist cracking this one right out of the box. Initially a bit reticent, but with some meaty, stemmy notes. On the palate, it is definitely youthful and tight, with some green, coarse tannins. The intriguing thing about this wine (apparently sans souffre) is how it actually becomes more brash and youthful with air, ending up 3 hours later as a charmingly aromatic wine with hyperintense tannic bite, and salty, meaty flavors that come on aggressively.
All in all, an intriguing and engaging wine that is way too young for full enjoyment. Needs at least a year until opening another one, but should be fun to see how it evolves.

Probably at its peak, and drinking marvelously right now. Lots of lifted violets, smoke, some meaty/iron notes. Herbal accents (maybe some seem influence?) add spice. Too bad...the last bottle!

Perhaps one of the least hyped of the Turley lineup, this is almost shockingly understated for an Amador Zin. Nonetheless, it delivers a surprisingly elegant package, with great Zin-berry fruit in a package of suave cherry, briar, and rhubarb. It is decidedly middleweight for a foothill Zin, nimble and emphatic at the same time. My last bottle, one I wish I'd bought in greater quantity.

This somewhat atypical Cali SB has some tropical fruit on the nose, as well as hay and mineral notes. The flavor composition has some guava and mango, but in a soft yet bracing package. Best at cool room temp.

Thoroughly impressed with this engaging, singular bottling. The nose intrigues from the start, with wax, elderflower, lemon curd, and a nutty rancio edge. The palate commands attention: loads of lemon/lime, faint nutty/butterscotch, tart apple, but the show-stealer is the searing acid spine that holds it all together. The wine only gains force as it gets to room temperature, the acid becoming even more commanding. This wine absolutely needs food, and performs beautifully at the table with seafood and risotto.

This one is ripe for the taking. From the first pour, it gives loads of meaty black fruits. Perhaps the best part, though, is the rich cocoa/mocha overtone that keeps it compelling and holds everything together. A rich, but balanced, treat. It will likely be fine for a few years, but my remaining bottles won't last that long.

Am I missing something? I've gone through four bottles of this since release, and each one has been less than impressive. Disjointed and angular, with a bitter/alcoholic edge and little varietal character. Overall, a real disappointment.

Just wanted to check in on this one...served up with some duck and roasted cauliflower. Man, this thing is still just a baby. Needs 2+ hours of air time, and still has a solid tannic backbone and firm, almost austere palate profile. Nonetheless, it offers dense black fruit and a meaty streak that paired well with richer food. Nonetheless, I would favor holding off at least a year or two until opening another. It goes without saying that this is a QPR barn-burner as well.

This one needed an hour or two of air, as it began a bit coarse and backwards, but it evolves into a righteous medium-weight, serious Cabernet. Lots of leather, herbal dark fruit, and a long finish. Still plenty of tannic support, this can age indefinitely, but drinks well right now with the right food.

Since I first tasted this a year ago, this wine has really come into its own. Whereas before it was steely and reticent at first, it now shows well on opening, and only improves with air time.
Straw, apple, melon and a hint of oak accent the mineral-heavy aromas. It has an ample acid backbone which supports the tart stone fruit, limestone, and chalky flavors which practically beg for food. A very nice effort from a fairly new producer. You know the saying..."Should've bought more!"

I see a lot of notes saying that this one is too young. While I agree that it will likely improve for some time, in my experience this wine is gorgeous right now.
It is a Zin with a lifted, light-on-its-feet feel, fairly elegant, and magnificently balanced. Bright cherry, herbaceous backbone, and earthy, mildly spicy finish make this wine a total pleasure for drinking now, but there is definitely some upside in its future.
Lastly, I love that this hails from a fairly unheralded region, hinting at lots of treasures to be discovered in the Lodi area.

Happy to have found this in the cellar. My last bottle of '09 Dolinsek, and a stern reminder not to open my Bedrocks too early. This wine is delicious on opening, but give it an hour or two and it definitively rocks. Big briary dark fruits, a touch of spice, faint oak, all carrying the high-ish ABV nicely. If it gets too warm, the alcohol comes forward, so keep it closer to cellar temp. Otherwise, a rich, hedonistic wine, but one with a fair bit of style and class. Note to self: double down on the heritage blends!

After a week of so-so wines, this was a fine Friday night drink. Very dark hue. Nose of black cherry, earthy notes, strong mocha/espresso aspect.
A bit of tannic grip up front. Mouth-filling deep berry, and a richness I've come to associate with CoCo wines, something I think of as "fruit-filled earth," a sort of depth of fruit coupled with a distinct loamy streak. Thoroughly delicious and satisfying. Not intellectual per se, but well-structured and intriguing. Don't remember what I paid, but I recall that it was well-priced. Should've bought several more.

An OK Cabernet blend, offering some dark cherry and earth tones. The most interesting thing about it is a nice coffee streak in the mid-palate. Otherwise, it never quite comes together, and never shakes a bit of heat and alcoholic bitterness that distracts. Wouldn't buy again, for sure.

A strong but agile mid-weight white that really comes into its own after 3-4 hours from pop-and-pour. Lots of lime, green apple, some straw, faint lychee. Palate is slightly textural, and the wine carries a nice balance through the finish. Should improve short-term. Maybe decant next time?

I will go on-record as saying that I was misguided on this wine. A couple of years earlier, I had almost written this one off as disjointed and off-target. Forward to 2014, this needs a bit of air, but is exuberant, full of delightful, old-school goodies. Loads of herbs and graphite abound on the nose, while the palate brings rich earth, redwood, and dark cassis/berry action. QPR winner!
