10/28/2023 - Junior wrote: NRWith time and air this was just very very nice. Woody and shroomy with a fine and subtle high note of red fruit. It shows its age in the best way. |

2/16/2020 - Junior wrote: NRFrom the year my father graduated college. Remarkably fresh (if subtle) red fruits and flowers and maybe a hint of tar, gracefully framed by a surprising brightness, smooth tannins, leather. Old but not at all gone. Who’d have thought? |

11/24/2019 - Junior wrote: NRGoodness. This was good. Found it in a box that had been lost in a pile. Shows the vintage but handles the fruit well, with mellow tannins and a bright edge to some plummy richness. |

1970 Cantine Fratelli Francoli Ghemme Riserva "Expo"Nebbiolo more |
1/12/2019 - Junior Likes this wine: NRDecanted over three hours. The nose was savory with tar and mushrooms but plenty of bright fruit and roses as well. The palate was full and bright though it thinned a bit over time. Really, really nice. Drunk with a bowl of Furlough Pintos. |

12/29/2015 - Junior Likes this wine: NRThis was quite nice. A wine drawn from an old cellar (my mother-in-law's fridge in the garage). Ancient but lively, elegantly fruited. Lovely with pork roast. |

2/1/2014 - Junior wrote: NRRock and salinity and a citrusy freshness. Nothing characteristic of age that I can detect, but it's been a while since I had one. And just as good after a week in the fridge (don't ask why I didn't finish it the first night). A why-don't-I-have-more wine. |

2005 Wyncroft Pinot Noir Avonlea VineyardLake Michigan Shore more |
1/4/2014 - Junior wrote: NRI have had three bottles of Wyncroft's 2005 Pinot noir and they have all been excellent. Lovely and refreshing, with a slightly smoky and earthy cherry nose, a spritely palate, and near-fully integrated tannins. Probably for drinking sooner rather than later, but these were still in very good shape. |

2005 Eric Texier Côtes du Rhône Villages St. GervaisGrenache Blend, Grenache more |
10/19/2013 - Junior wrote: NRI know this wine used to have a good dollop of carignan in it with about 10 percent syrah--does it still? It seems to. Good fruit, a little savory, and a little green around the edges too, but nothing untoward. I'd like to say something like, "It's a pretty nice wine for a crisp fall night," but it's 70 degrees and as humid as July, so, I'll just say it: it works all right for me. |

2005 Michel Tête Juliénas Domaine du Clos du FiefGamay more |
11/6/2012 - Junior wrote: NRA serendipitous discovery of an unlogged bottle led me an even more pleasant surprise--this was really good. It's developed some richness over time, poise and balance. Sweet, ripe fruit, but bright and elegant as well. |

9/16/2012 - Junior wrote: NRI like these wines, both the Prestige and the regular cuvee, but they are never among my favorite Beaujolais vintage-to-vintage. That said, I have enjoyed following the evolution of the 2005s over the last few years. Last night, I chose wisely, for once. |

6/17/2012 - Junior wrote: NRThis wine has come a ways: From very good to elegantly brilliant. From intense and a little bloody to graceful but still confidently rich and savory. The development is not incremental, but the wine remains youthful-seeming in its purity of fruit. My last of three bottles, but I think this had some years to go. |

11/25/2011 - Junior wrote: NRThis may have turned some so of corner. Leaner, sterner (in avoid way) with an altogether more mature air. The fruit is still ripe, but the wine seems to have developed something of a spine. Spicy and bright. |
