As always, this wine never disappoints. Earthy tobacco, chocolate, coffee, toffee and a lovely sweetness to it. Elegance and power. A good buy at the right price, drinking lovely right now though may improve even more with time. 95+pts.

Deep, extended, expansive on the palate. So perfumed.Classy, almost aristocratic - much more interesting than the '12 if you ask me.

Quite austere to begin with, but developes some sweetness after being opened for an hour or so. Not quite as good on the 2nd day - less sweetness and more ashen, but still quite attractive.

This seemed a bit muddled at first but it came around very well after a couple of hours. A bit bigger than the '09 but the '09 was better to me; more delicate and expressive.

Drank on the heals of some '07 Gigondas that was better by comparison. This cab is pleasant and drinking well right now - not a lot of personality though.

Elegant, medium-bidied, some power and finesse. There's a savory red-brick tone, classy stuff. One of my favorites from this vintage at the right price.

Elegant, delicate cabernet, medium to full-bodied. Well balanced, sumptuous, smooth, not overly structured; ready to drink now really. Somehow this feels almost too smooth and composed. It's lovely but there's nothing unexpected or thrilling.

This feels very traditional in style, backward and surprisingly tannic - all good signs really. This is pretty firm at first, with red fruit and a slightly jammy and pucker, but opens up with some decanting. Very satisfying and showing strongly, but built for a long haul too.

This is very nice - significant earthiness right out of the bottle. Then it takes on dome sweetness. There is so much charm and charisma here. The alcohol level feels relatively low, allowing the delicacy to show. This may improve more with age; doesn't feel like it's fading, though drinking very well already.

I was a bit disappointed at first, but this really blossomoed after two hours of decanting. The last glass had a lovely sweetness and poise to it. Will benefit from a few more years of bottle age.

I quite liked this for the price. I do love the first wine but this is no slouch. There's the nice acidity of the vintage, some savory meaty tone, a slightly hot spiciness on the finish. Not to be confused with the first wine, but pretty useful for the price.

This is ready for business. I've had three of these in the last two years, and while previous bottles were a bit tight and closed, the wine has now really unfurled. There is a delicacy and subtlety in this wine that is so attractive. I love it. 93+ pts. Drink now.

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend more

Parker's review is quite accurate though I'm not sure how he thought the drinking window would start at 2013; this is quite jammy and unformed right now (despite three hours of decanting), though the potential is clear. I'd leave this for another five years at least. Glad I have a case left. Could almost be confused with something from Napa. It's approachable in some ways but it has a dark, tannic backbone which suggests a longer wait is needed.

My last of about fifteen of these I've had over the years. This is faring better than I had expected. It definitely needs to be drank now/soon vs. holding any longer as it's surely on the downward trajectory, but it still has some charm. Quite light-bodied for a syrah, some white pepper, slightly sweet red fruit tones, somewhat pronounced acidity. Nothing too serious but good for the money. Drink now.
