90 minute decant. Dark ruby-medium purple in appearance; blueberries, boysenberries, and minty cassis on the nose. Loads of blueberries and blackberries on the palate along with some hints of creme de cassis and dark cocoa. Medium bodied with a medium finish; I last tasted this 3+ years ago and this has definitely evolved into something really good and still has the backbone to last for quite a while.

Popped and poured. Colour of medium honey and gold; a nice aromatic nose of ripe red apples, apricots, and a hint of salinity and honeysuckles. This has a nice palate of ripe apricots, orange rinds, and a kiss of honey. Balanced on the palate and the acidity is still hanging in there. Medium+ body with a medium+ finish. A nice aged auslese for some after dinner relaxation.

This one's evolved from a year ago when I tasted it last. Light yellow in colour and seems to have taken on a little more weight and flavours--mostly buttery butterscotch and ripe guavas are prominent; semi-smooth with a medium-long finish. Served with ahi tuna steak. I think I've become a Rombauer fan!

Reviewing my last tn from 2 years ago, decided to decant this one for 5 hours. Dark inky purple with a dark ruby edge. Black cherries, black licorice, and some graphite on the nose. Black cherries and dark plums along with some black licorice on the palate; the decanting definitely helped with this one; nice full bodied and it finishes nicely though not as smooth as I would imagine.

Light-medium garnet-ruby in colour; nose of very dark red fruits and some cassis with some black cherries and anise; can kinda smell the heat. The palate's getting loads of black fruits, black licorice, and some dark herbs; tannic up front and hot at the end; medium bodied with a short-medium finish. Lay this one down for a few more years before trying again.

Bright deep hay in colour; nose of sweet ripe green and red apples, some pears and a touch of honey. Nice and smooth on the palate where I'm getting some apricot liqueur, ripe green apples, and some honeyed minerally pineapples; acidity balances out the flavours; has a very nice finish to go along with it. An excellent spatlese with an excellent price tag when I bought this; have one bottle left, wish I bought a case when I had the chance.

Sour apples and green apples all around. This was a really good one to pair with some spicy Chinese food; a very nice food friendly wine. I think this is the first time I used a beer bottle opener to open up a bottle of wine.

Very light yellow hay in colour; sweet lemon peels, peach skins, and some white flowers on the nose with a hint of wet stones. Has a good amount of acidity; limes, lemony quince, and some lemons on the palate; has a freshness to it that makes me want to drink this on a warm sunny day on my deck while staring at the mountains. Nice medium-long finish; would give this some extra cellar time before trying it again. Served with alder smoked salmon and Spanish rice.

From a magnum; pnp through a vinturri. Semi bright ruby-red in colour; nose of cherries, raspberries, and some earthy plums. The palate's getting some dusty red currants and more dusty red berries along with some dark plums and oaky vanilla. Medium bodied with a short-medium finish. Drinking nicely after running it through a vinturri; this is not a long termer, or even a mid termer for that matter. Drink now and share with your non-wine drinking buddies and they will thank you for sharing this.

Getting black cherries with some sweet raspberries on the palate; also getting some herbs and hints of black licorice. The fine grained tannins are apparent on the front palate; medium bodied with a medium-long finish. Can definitely benefit some more time in the cellar. Good stuff.

Colour is dark purple with some dark rubyish undertones; nose is getting some sweet plums, blackberries, and blackberry paste with a slight hint of cassis. On the palate, the tannins are already slightly integrated and am getting light black fruits along with some hints of red fruits to go along; body is somewhat lighter as well. Since this is my first try of a Hall cab, I couldn't comment much on how this has changed from previous vintages, though for the price I paid, I was expecting a little more "oomph" out of this one. Maybe the other bottles I have will evolve for the better in the future.
